Can we completely replace our combo wrenches with ratcheting ones yet?

Yes and no. It depends on what you're doing and what you're working on. I probably use ratcheting wrenches 90% of the time.

My favorite ratcheting wrench of all time has been out for years, and I feel it's the best ratcheting wrench out there offering you the strength of a fixed boxed end and the speed of a ratcheting boxed end in a single wrench in a standard length package.

Matco/Armstrong were the first to bring these to market a long time ago and mine are still going strong for the most part. My second favorite ratcheting wrench would be the first gen Dewalts. They had a Proto like anti slip open end, great feel and balance. Proto always has great ratcheting wrenches.

Gearwrench has a made a set like that for years now, like the one above.
They are extra long too.

Every few years I find myself needing to use a pipe on a (HF) wrench or more rarely hitting it with a sledge to remove a tough fastener. Being a nice guy if someone wants me to test their ratcheting wrenches with my sledge hammer I would do that for you.

I'm confused, are you talking about old-school with two static ends? I've got a few goto's for BMW's, little guys around 11, 9 and 7mm. Almost everything else is Gearwrench Style with one static end and the ratcheting end. I almost always use the static end first to loosen then use the ratcheting end. I'm using them every week on cars and small tractors and haven't had an issue, I'd probably get carpal tunnel without the ratchet end.

I've got the long Gearwrench Version (like above) and those are hour-savers for that deeply buried bolt. I picked up a ton of different Gearwrench and Wiha Wrenches in the golden age of sales a few years ago, we were pretty lucky and the "Hot Buys" thread was on fire.

If your carrying it then it gets heavy
You can still own more than one set of wrenches without carrying every wrench set you own, every where you go, every time you leave your home/shop/vehicle.

I don't carry every tool I own everywhere I go.... Do you?
