Looks great! I think that kind of floor is one of the best choices. Way tougher than epoxy, no hot-tire pickup....

Looks great!! No problems walking on the glue to set the tiles? I know they said walk lightly, just seems strange. I was at Home Depot today looking :)

I loved the pictures, you're really having fun and excited. I think once in a while ya ought to invite people over and play chess/checkers on that floor!

I kept asking Richard Petty (the king) too lend a hand but he said he was just going to supervise lol.
total invested in flooring is about $650, but that is EVERYTHING you need including all tools clear epoxy ect. if you just do the vct it is about $1 per sq ft installed(you do the work).
so in summery to get to this point (no bondtite 1109 clear epoxy) it was $400. I just ordered the clear epoxy and it ran about $225 for 10mil thickness(5mil would have been $150) i have 400sq feet space.

floor prep was sweep, scrape all high spots (piant, concrete, ect) then beahr cleaner/etcher (muratic acid), let dry real good, then fill all cracks and low spots.

That looks great. Congrats an a great makeover. I don't care waht others say, that pattern looks great.

But, look at all that open space you still have there. All that space is exactly what I don't have. Can I store some of my tools there??

Does the top coat prevent the hot tire pick up? I thought that was the real downside to VCT. Im curious as to how this will turn out.

Wow! Very nice job! I considered those tiles, but I get standing water in my garage in the wintertime, and didn't know how that would affect the tiles.

Time to start filling up that space!

That looks great. I'm gonna do the same pattern in tan and black. Like someone else said, does the epoxy clearcoat help prevent hot tire pickup?

What kind of adhesive did you use? So scrape, clean, wash the floor, and fill cracks? Nice.

Wow...awesome job! I want to do this so badly.....

Perhaps giving me some incentive. I have a friend's 56 Olds half apart in the garage as well as my truck and RT. I put the RT in the trailer for awhile...but I gotta get the Olds done.

the epoxy is because i am too lazy to wax and strip all the time. i also think it will help with tiles shifting and jack stands hurting the vct. also by the time you add up the cost of all the wax, stripper(giggidy), mop, bucket, rental of buffer, ect...the epoxy clear seams cheaper in the long run. i didnt think hot tire pickup was an issue for vct.

i used home depot vct adhesive (roberts i think)

I've always read that the "hot tire pick up" was THE issue with the vct. It leaves tire marks is what happens supposedly.....Anybody?

white vct tiles will show yellow from tiles, but not if you clear epoxy the floor.
hot tire pick up is when paint or poorly applied epoxy peels off the floor due to hot tires.

Wow, that looks nice. Congrats! I feel sorry for the first person to spill something on it.

Why? It will wipe up in 2 seconds like it wasn't even there. Very nice floor man. Please keep us posted on how it does with hot tires, marks, damage, etc.
