I hear you on NAPA changing brands frequently, but I'm not sure warranty would be a concern my NAPA will still warranty New Britain tools. Of course YMMV

I buy NAPA Carlyle hand tools for our shop with the understanding that they will replace any tool no matter what my anvil dismantlers do to them. I spend enough with our local NAPA so they have no problem with that. Delivery truck comes at least once a day and the salesman is there twice a week so warranty service is fast although we really don't break too many carlyle hand tools.I have some Carlyle stuff..It's just easy because the Napa guy is at the shop everyday..if you need to warranty something..
I have warrantied old Napa brand tools for carlyle tools with no issues. Part numbers just cross over to carlyle.i can see the brand going belly up... And Napa scrapping the warranty.. changing house brands...AGAIN...
These tools aren't truck quality but they are great for the money. Only complaint I have on the tools that we have purchased is the long handle 1/2" drive ratchet. We regularly use them on large hydraulic fitting with a 2 1/4" crowfoot and a pipe on the other end. The new carlyle ratchets will flex and not put the torque to the crowfoot. Put the same set up on my snap-on or even an older napa ratchet and they will break free.
I've got to admit that my go to sockets for grab and go 3/8 sockets are the carlyle mid depths with a 120xp.

I agree...they will still warranty the Carlyle line.. but in exchange for what..? Great neck might be there next house brand...?

I see your point. I suppose if I didn't know anything about Carlyle I would be a little hesitant about trading USA made New Britan and or Easco era stuff in on Taiwan made stuff. And to your point I would be disappointed if I had to trade my Carlyle in and receive something made in India or something.

I'd welcome that. Great Neck makes Duralast Tools as well as OEM Tools. I've been impressed with both brands.

Their combo wrench design is the same, if not exactly, like Snap-On flanks. I haven't seen other brands that copy Snap-On combo wrench yet.Never seen this brand out here. Whats it close to quality and price wise?
I believe Carlyle pretty much a good alternative to the beloved Craftsman Pro line. I think they cost more than Gearwrench and their tool selection is on par with Snap-On. You can find mid-depth sockets, which is something to be found only on truck-brands.

I been searching and hopefully I can get a decent answer. How have the ratchets and wrenches held up over time. Has any one have problems with the open end part of the wrench spread.
Why is everything on carlyle website out of stock? I would like to buy some sets but they don't even have them!
Their website is wierd, a lot of items show as out of stock. Just add whatever item you're interested in to your cart and then it will show that you can buy it.
Their website needs some work for sure...

Don't have any wrenches but the locking flex 1/4" ratchet I got last year has been holding up great. One of my favorite ratchets.

Why is everything on carlyle website out of stock? I would like to buy some sets but they don't even have them!
you have to shop online at your local NAPA store. Some items may be listed as out of stock at the local store but, can be obtained from the regional distribution center within 24 hours. I'm in Phoenix & my NAPA has overnighted tools from Los Angeles at no additional charge. It helps if your local NAPA is a corporate store too.

As far as canada...
My first real socket set was an ultrapro one with 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 that i was gifted probably 12 years ago. It has recieved heavy use and was recently upgraded for proto stuff i peiced together used. The ratchets got a little bit sloppy, i broke a 3/8 extension, but have to say it was great. I beleive they still sell it. Had every size except 20mm. Good stuff overall. Unsure COO.

Yea I was looking at a socket set I guess it's out of stock, are there any ways to get discounts on carlyle? I joined the Carlyle club and never heard anything more

I asked someone at my local napa store and he said "Napa wants you to spend money in the store". Also if you reserve on line and pick up in store and have aaa or military you can get a extra 10 off.

So how good is the non slip wrenches? Can you compare them to another brand you own?

Sorry, I don't think I've used the open-end all that much on stuck fasteners, at least not enough that I'd want to rate them on that aspect. I don't wrench for living...just do the work needed on our own vehicles. (I also like to work on classic cars, but no metric fasteners on those!) Hopefully someone else will chime in here who can help you out.

Out of curiosity, I bought a 10mm deep socket made by Carlyle. The fit/finish is on par with Craftsman but not at the Snap On or Mac Tools level. Granted I paid $4.15 including tax from NAPA, where a Snap On would have been $20 from the truck. Carlyle tools are decent for the money but they are not so great.
