Seems like abuse of Costco return policy. Warranty is from gps manufacturer if something wrong,, not Costco.. 3yrs old, guessing manufacturer warranty is over... Unless it's the old get newer model every 3yrs games shopping crowd.. Hope he sleeps fine at nights.

Nothing to lose??? only Yur honor code of ethics.

Number 1 - he contacted them and asked about a return. They were happy to help him. I was merely giving an example of how Costco tries to keep people that spend thousands of dollars there a year happy.

Number 2 - Seems like a good part of you like to judge other people on the internet, but always have different rules for yourselves. He simply asked, they even sent over a copy of the receipt for him so he could do it.

Number 3 - you can keep you personal opinions about my family to your ****** self, and off the forum. You wanna make a snide and cowardly remark about me from your computer, be my guest - but don't make an insulting post about someone in my family and then talk about ethics. Coward...

Ten years or so I got a flat panel Vizio television at Costco. It had a terrible problem with images burning into the screen, as when a letterbox program was watched and the lines showed for a few days thereafter. This is something LCDs are supposed not to do.

I was talking to the guys in the electronics department a year-and-a-half or two post-purchase about how I was unhappy (as I looked at Samsung TVs). The guys there were adamant that I should bring it back. At this point, electronics like TVs didn't have the time limit for returns they now do. I kept telling the guys it didn't seem right, and they kept telling me that yes, it was right, 'cause I wasn't happy. They ended up convincing me, and I got the $500+ credit. Which I immediately turned around on another TV purchase from Costco. The company earned my undying loyalty by treating me better than I expected to be treated.

Obivously, they've planned this into their business model, like Craftsman and Snap-on. And as electronics (at least big electronics) were exempted from the evergreen warranty, they know what it's costing and they're OK with it.

So let your own conscience be your guide, and take it as read that Costco will be with you on it.

I don't sit in judgement of exactly why anyone wants to return a Costco item, and I can vouch first hand that the company wants all customers to be happy in the end.

FWIW, both Nashville area Costco stores had the CAT light in-stock, so I picked one up. The West Nashville store still had some of the Snap-on LED worklamps in-stock as well, so of course I had to throw one of those in my cart. They had some new Mechanix gloves for $14.99 for 2 pairs that fit me really well. I'll see how they hold up to some of my other gloves...if they get holes too easily, they can go back w/o a problem.

Personally, I would not return something like that - but let me play devil's advocate for a minute. How is this any different that someone buying a beat up or broken Craftsman tool for pennies on the dollar at a yard sale and then returning it to Sears for a new one? (actually I think this example is worse, but there are plenty of members here that think this is A OK)

Costco's policy is "We guarantee your satisfaction on every product we sell, and will refund your purchase price" with some exceptions they specifically list

Craftsman doesn't limit the warranty to the original purchaser do they? The fact that they 'should' last several lifetimes was kinda the catch, no?

If they need to limit the warranty, then they should explicitly do that...and I believe there are limitations on wear and rust, just
not acquisition method.

They have these lights at our Costco for $20. I paid $30 a couple months ago.

I'm going to go look at my store. I was there about a week ago and they were still $30. I've had one for several months but would like a couple more.

These were $49.99 at the Costco I go to in the Toronto area. I had to pass at that price. Now they have a different one...King light...same price.

I bought the snap on one a couple years ago for $20 and the cat one about 6 months ago for the same. Both at Costco in Manitoba.

I bought 1 at 30 dollars.. Then 1-2 months later it was 25 dollars... Too much trouble for $5 difference... And Light is awesome... But I like the HF 20 dollars magnetic led light.. It my go to for auto work and more..it's more useful then Cat light.

But I did see 1 Asian young guy buy the Costco cat led light.... He took the whole stock... Like 30-40 of them when they were $25....stupid...not much flip on those unless Yu like making pennies and wasting time...

They sell for around $45 on eBay, so he's probably not doing too bad flipping them.

Stopped at my local Costco. Saw a bunch of the CAT lights. Looks like they made an unfortunate change. They now use AA batteries.

I got the a pair for 19.99. In the instructions it says it has a high and low setting by pushing the power button high-low-off but it's just on and off anyone else see this.

I inherited one of these CAT LED lights, but the charger was missing. No paperwork, no ID on the charger port. Can you tell me what voltage your charger for this light is. I probably have one in my bucket of chargers, but there are a dozen different voltages. Thanks Jim

That type of charger may be banned soon. Very wasteful. Legal only cause separate from unit. That is the legal loophole and reason for separate charging cords.
Of course those numbers may vary.
