Discovered something interesting when ran across a listing for CAT ratchets
> The 1/2 Drive Round-head ratchet looks to have a polished handle unlike the knurled on the Williams
> The warranty is only six-months versus a lifetime on the Pear-heads
Does CAT consider this ratchet so much weaker, hence the short warranty period?

The warranty issue with the round heads is that you may have to replace the entire ratchet, or at least the entire mechanism, which is a substantial cost, as opposed to a $3 mfr cost kit for a pear head. I have some round head williams that are 50 years old and haven't been rebuilt. If you are concerned about warranty, then Snap On is your brand. Industrial brands, and most European brands, are "if it's good out of the box, it's good" with the defects in materials and workmanship statement- which I agree with . The round head Williams are nice ratchets, but the head is doubly thick by today's standards.
