guys, are CCTV siamese cable used anymore for newer HD CCTV cameras? Have a roll but not sure what to do, seems demand is low.

my cable is RG59 and low voltage 18AWG + - cable fused together. This used to transmit analog video around 320-400 lines and then you got the DC voltage to power the camera.

I was thinking they still got these Hi def cameras these days that modulate high res data digitally over RG59, so people who already have existing cameras don't have to run completely new cable to install the hi def cameras and such cable I mentioned should be somewhat useful?

theres a few brands that do MPX(mexapixel over coax) such as FLIR and Lorex(owned by FLIR).

I prefer IP CCTV easier to troubleshoot and easier to install and i steer my clients towards IP CCTV but do have clients with analog still.

How much siamese do you have?

Every new interior office install that we work on that gets cameras, gets POE cameras.

I work in large scale commercial surveillance. We only install POE Cameras. most reliable solution, and the cabling is so simplified. Some new customers push to keep their analog cameras but then see what even the most basic hikvision camera can do and bite the bullet. There are analog converters available but they are a band-aid

Which POE cameras would you recommend?

We are in the process of replacing an old camera system. The issue we have, is I need a camera that has +100' or more infrared range.

Moving to POE will require cable runs of around 200 - 225 ft. so cable length may become a problem.

Ethernet generally is rated to 100 meters (330 ish ft) but I have made runs longer than that in the past and they worked fine. So as long as you are using quality cable I don’t see an issue with cat 5e or cat 6 on a 1 gig link. If you are running along some high EMI areas like near transformers and such you might want for step up to a shielded cable but the 100 meter limitation still applies.

100+ foot ir range. Take a look at axis Q series bullets the Q1765-LE or Q1785/6-LE

Can you add some IR illuminators? I’ve had good results locating them near the spots (assets) I want to see. There are IR panels available for a variety of applications.
