I'm in the process of hanging 2 ceiling fans in the garage. The fans are all solid white and don't look manly enough to hang in the garage. So I was wondering about painting the blades and the only thing I can come up with is paint 2 black and leave 2 white, but that is kinda bland. Ya'll got any ideas?

Not sure what the issue is, its a garage, unless you are decorating it like the inside of your house.

I like red. Plus it'll help you see them when on, so you dont stick things into them.....unless you have a barn sized shop like him^.....can you feel my envy?....they might look pink though if everything around them is white.

In my last real garage I got a fan for free from my buddy. It was white as well I carefully removed the blades and painted them semigloss black and put hot rod, tool, and dirtbike related stickers on the blades. No problems with manlyness again.

I just painted some valspar aluminum. It has a speckled metallic finish.

Might look good sprayed with cast iron enamel. It'll look just like grey cast iron, and won't show much dust/dirt etc.

My fans are white. I guess it's not very "manly", but my fans aren't the focal point in my garage, so I don't mind that they blend-in with the white ceiling as long as they circulate the air!

I like the plane prop idea. In my experience with ceiling fans, white shows dirt real well. Along with black, brown, red, green, blue, orange,....

I don't know that I'd want a bunch of different colors whirling around on a fan blade, it would be distracting. There's a reason they're normally white or some other neutral color, so they visually fade away in the background.

I picked up a used white ceiling fan at a garage sale for $2...and then painted it with chrome spray paint, which from a distance looks more like aluminum. I figured if it sucked I would just throw it away and be out $2, but it turned out okay. I'll try to get a pic later.

I also think it would be kinda cool to get the radiator fan off a large diesel and attach it to a regular ceiling fan motor for the garage fan...they scrap them out all the time where I work.

What kind of manly do you want? For real manly, white is just fine. If you want girly-man, try pink or peach.

Since they are already white how about a black & white checkerboard pattern? Your half way there.
