Construction on my 30x28x13 will begin in the next couple weeks.
Ceiling will be insulated with R49 and drywalled. Walls will be 2x6x12 studs with R19 batt insulation. Will maybe add plywood or drywall at later time.
Two 9x8 doors will be insulated R18 panel & window.
Plan on heating with Mr Heater Big Maxx 50K BTU unit mounted in top left corner as shown in photo.
Location in Central Ohio so primary use for fan will be heat circulation to reduce energy costs in cold months where I will keep it at ~50°F all the time except when I'll be out there very occasionally working. Secondary use would be to blow air to cool off while working in the warmer, muggier summer months.
Do you think I'd be better off with something like the Fenceham 84" from Home Depot currently selling for $319 (low RPM, low watt, DC motor, high CFM, probably better for cold months) or would 1-2 Westinghouse 56" from Home Depot for $61 suffice (high RPM, higher watt, lower CFM, probably better for warm months)?
Additionally I'd like some advice on ideal placement for best circulation while minimizing shadows from high bay lights. I've attached a diagram showing placement of everything (9 rectangles are high bay lights surface mounted to ceiling, heater in top left corner, two columns for 2-post lift in left bay).
Lastly, And what size downrod is recommended? Home Depot suggests the 84" fan be mounted roughly 10' above the floor meaning a 36" downrod but do you all agree, and would that be the same for smaller 56-60" fans.
Let me know!
