I've got 2. helps in the summer to keep it cool, and in the winter I reverse them. usually run them on low. both on a dedicated circuit with a single speed control that burns out every few years (really should be on their own speed controls).

these are the ones I have. not really heavy duty but at least they "look" like they belong in a shop and don't have cardboard blades that sag over time.

I had four ceiling fans in my old shop. Two each on a rheostat to control the speed. I am waffling on whether or not I will put some in my new shop because I hardly used them in my old shop. I didn't use them nearly as much as I thought I would when I built the shop.

You can go separate but we had several fans per control at work. Just buy one of those industrial jobs with the heat sink on the back. They are actually pretty cheap but not found in the big box store. They need their own wall box, as they cannot be ganged because of size and heat.

I have three in my shop and they are a big help as it gets hotter than two rats f*cking, in a wool sock, with the end *******, when it's summer here in NC. Mine are these 56" models purchased via Amazon Prime for less than $60 each. I have mine on a rheostat also, but they are always wide open. Pics of mine installed:

The exhaust fan seen at the top of the first pic is also a BIG help.

One cheap 42", works well for circulating heat and AC. No pic, just hung about the middle using the pull chain as the only switch. Didn't even put the base on it. Functional, not decorative.

I like ceiling fans in the garage or shop. In the attached house garage I had two which was helpful for moving the hot air out, and to help with drying things out on a damp day. When I built my 40x60 shop, I installed four. Two fans on two rheostat's. They are great for moving air.

I have 2 mounted on a 12' ceiling. The shop is 28x23. One came out of the house during remodel and the other was a nos garage sale find. They help circulate the air. A big *** fan would be nice but the price was right on these.

Hello all, How many of the members have ceiling fans installed in there workshops? Pictures?
Hi, taking your question literally, it's doubtful you'll ever get a an accurate answer to the total number of members that have ceiling fans or pictures in their garages. However since you most likely were not asking literally, but rather figuratively and are just curious about other's installs and a request for photos of same...I submit the following:

They are on the ceiling.....:lol_hitti (sorry, but I thought those of us with only 8 foot ceilings and dreams of installing a motorcycle lift should be represented here.)

When I start them up, they sound a little bit like a twin Beechraft with it's props out of sync..then they settle down.

OK, I'll go to the time out corner now and be quiet for a while.
