Ceiling mount heater installation

I’ve got a 40x40 area planning to install a couple of these ceiling mount heaters in. It’s a red iron building 12’ on eaves. I’ve got unistrut and all thread to hang it.

I’d rather not climb a step stool or ladder to turn it on or off. I’m in South Alabama near the Florida line. This won’t be something I run a lot but will have if I need it. I have a separate 20x20 area heated and cooled by mini split. The 40x40 area is the woodworking and auto repair side of the shop.

Would it be okay to just put a 30 amp toggle switch below it? Or what other alternative is there? I don’t know how to install a separate thermostat at shoulder height or if that’s even possible.

Best options?

I know this may be too late. But some of these come with remote controls. Thats what I purchased since mine is 10 feet up in the air.

Line voltage thermostat will turn it on/off and maintain set temperature. That's what I would use.

Too late for me. It was about 100 degrees and Tractor Supply closed them out for 1/3 of price. It never dawned on me how I’d turn it on and off.

I hung a domestic horizontal furnace with some duct-work. This system has worked flawlessly for over 30 years/
Like you, I used ready-rod aka all thread to hang the furnace.

I have a low-voltage WIFI thermostat and a contactor with a 24V coil switched by the thermostat. That way I can set it to come on in the morning before I head out, or turn it on from work to warm up if I have projects to do when I get home. Doesn't take long to heat up my 20x30 garage, but a headstart helps.

You could also use a line voltage thermostat, or an appropriately-sized toggle switch.

I use Wall Warts from Sprinkler timers to power both the thermostat and the control relay in the Heater Power line.
