ceiling storage advice (attic, ladder, shelves?)

I'm in the process of building a 20 X 30 garage.
The rear 22 ft of the garage will have sloped ceilings from 10' at the side walls to 12.5' at the collar ties (to allow for a potential lift).
I was thinking of having the front 8' of the garage (where the garage door ends up when open) a flat 10' ceiling to allow for some open storage space above (center of that area would have about 6' of height). However upon thinking about it more the transition from the 22' portion to the 8' portion is not ideal as i'd only have about 2' of access (collar ties at 12.5 and front ceiling at 10').
So two options I see:
-skip the 'attic-like' storage space, maintain collar tie config all of the way, and just install shelving from the ceiling later OR
-enclose that front 8', make it like an attic, and include a pull-down attic door.
Thoughts? Advice?

The sketches half-way down at the following thread may help:

Yes, it's difficult to get much vertical space where the two ceilings meet up with a 20' span, even with the 9/12 roof pitch.

I did my garage with half standard trusses and half scissor trusses across a 28' span. I thought about using attic trusses on the non-vaulted half, but with a 4/12 roof pitch it wasn't worth it. Actually if I did it over again I'd probably just go with higher walls and skip the scissor trusses altogether.
