I'm in the process of building a 20 X 30 garage.
The rear 22 ft of the garage will have sloped ceilings from 10' at the side walls to 12.5' at the collar ties (to allow for a potential lift).
I was thinking of having the front 8' of the garage (where the garage door ends up when open) a flat 10' ceiling to allow for some open storage space above (center of that area would have about 6' of height). However upon thinking about it more the transition from the 22' portion to the 8' portion is not ideal as i'd only have about 2' of access (collar ties at 12.5 and front ceiling at 10').
So two options I see:
-skip the 'attic-like' storage space, maintain collar tie config all of the way, and just install shelving from the ceiling later OR
-enclose that front 8', make it like an attic, and include a pull-down attic door.
Thoughts? Advice?
