Ceramic/Porcelain Tile Question

Hi All,

Planning a redo to my garage in a BMW Motorsport theme this coming spring and I have a question for all the guys out there who have tiled their garage floors.

I am wondering what you used at the edge as a transition piece. As it stands now, my interlocking paver driveway sits about an inch below the level of the slab, so my question is do I tile to the edge of the slab and stop worrying about the extra height? Do I use bull nosed tile or some sort of edging material?

Also, I'd love to hear thoughts on whether I should tile to the garage door and stop there or tile out to the slab edge where it will be exposed to weather (including snow and ice as I am in an area with real winters.

Thanks in advance!

Ray

I have added a "current state" photo... as good as I can get right now as it's winter and my garage is more full than usual.

I'm tiling to the edge, and using Reno-ramp, which gives a 2.5" ramp surface. Assuming I ever get it done...

Thanks bdamico, that gives me some info about the transition, any thoughts on whether to run it out past the garage door to the edge of the slab given the weather conditions here?

Run the tiles to the edge of the slab. It looks better and when installed with the proper materials the "weather conditions" will not affect or harm your tiled floor.

I ran mine up to the garage door. Because mine is black and white checker at the door it would look out of place on the outside with the door closed.

I have a small step-up at the garage door and the edge has a bullnose shape to it. I ran mine to just short of the edge. I didn't want any unsupported tile sticking out and potentially chipping. Looks fine. I don't find that I need any sort of ramp.
