CURRENT PICTURES OF THE NEW GARAGE:

Hello all. Really loving the site and content. Thought I'd contribute some pics of my next project I'm getting started.

Backstory is that I spent a lot of time and effort doing my dream garage makeover at my last house. A job transfer put us moving to a new state and leaving behind my beloved "garagemahal". New owner wasn't even a car guy unfortunately!

Oh well. The great silver lining is that the new house is a 3 car garage instead of 2 which has always been my dream. I'm also glad I can do my favorite things over again but also improve/change the things I didn't like so much.

Here are some pics from the OLD garage I madeover. Believe it or not my wife spent all weekend helping me with the makeover as my anniversary present. She is still proud that she did a big portion of the racedeck floors and is excited about the next makeover. Her reasoning is "that is the first room people see when they come in our house so why not make it look as good as the rest of the house?" She IS a keeper.

Here is the new place. Love the extra space of course. Looks ok in the pics but it is really filthy. Walls, windows, floors really need some scrubbing but I kind of like polishing it up so don't mind. Makes for a fun makeover.

Going to take several months to get the big things done. Not in a big rush and enjoying it coming together. Just moved in the house 5 months ago so I still have some honey-do's to take care of but the garage is definitely my next main focus.

Yesterday I took down the old nasty blinds, scrubbed all the windows down, scraped the old paint and put a fresh coat on them.

Already had the tool chest on the left but my father in law gave me his matching one that I can now pair up for double the tool space. Still need to clean out the old one and do some rearranging.

Another shot of the toolbox and also some of my paint samples. Planning to do the dark grey on the bottom and the silver color in the middle top. Bottom is same as last garage but upper color is a little lighter this time around.

Dear sir,

Viper fans across the world feel compelled to tell you that parking a viper in a garage which has corvette splattered across the back wall is blasphemous.

That is all.

- Viper fans

Seriously though, I loved the old garage and can't wait to see what you do with this one!
More pics of the viper wouldn't hurt either

Ha ha! I catch flak for that all the time. Sadly I love both. How can you not love Blondes AND Redheads?

The first garage looked great. Looking forward to seeing the pics this go-a-round. And most definitely, the wife is a keeper. Anytime you can get a wife to the garage to help, that a good thing!!!!

Just make sure you keep us updated

Old garage looked great! Can't wait to see the new garage take shape to your vision. Love all the cars as well. I see the '69 SS had a Cherokee County Georgia tag. Are you still in Georgia? I am in Canton area in Cherokee county.

What a great garage you left behind. But with your crew the new one can only be better with the experience. Get pictures of your wife doing same things in this one, but with kids helping. Families that grow up in the garage together .....

Looking forward to the progress on the new garage!!

If the new garage isn't twice as nice as the first, I will be surprised. I imagine Chad has some awesome ideas. Can't wait.

You wouldn't mind actually posting the paint code and maker would you? My garage needs a new coat of paint and I want to do something nicer than off white.

Thanks! No longer in GA (Near Nashville TN now) but used to live in Woodstock so yes I was close by you then. Great place to live.

No kidding! No I never hit that one but heard it was a good one.

I am jealous. just sayin.

Great first garage, I may have saved a few of the pictures for ideas for mine. Hope you don't mind!

Heck no I don't mind. I cobbled mine together using everyone else's cool ideas myself!

Not at all. I'll try to find the cans today. I got the original gray colors from lowes. The red i had colormatched as SW to my corvette which was "victory red".

Your last garage was perfect, can't imagine how nice this new one will be.

Had the same thought. ***** you had to leave the old place, but having known what you'd change, I'm sure this one will be perfect. (BTW- gorgeous collections of cars)

Thanks guys!

By the way here are the paint codes as requested. The darker color is the same one on the bottom half I'm going to use again. The old upper color came out a little too purple looking so I'm going with the "silver screen" color shown on the home depot sample.

I am making myself crazy looking at cabinets! I want about 17' of cabinets down the wall to the left of the toolboxes. I ordered one of the "new age" or "coleman" base cabinets and was not impressed especially for the money.

The red finish is very dull and the thing was damaged in several places so I am getting my money back. I really would like a high gloss red finish or high gloss black.

I am actually thinking about those home depot Husky metal cabinets. I think if I pulled off the logo they'd look pretty good. the Grey and black might work pretty well. I'm looking to spend no more than $2200 on cabinets. Prefer to stay away from wood this time around.

I'm really having fun taking my time and staring at the room each weekend thinking about what to do. Kind of enjoying the journey more than the destination in this case which is odd for me!

Please tell me that Ultimate isn't just for decoration!

ha ha no not just artwork and fully funtional. She still flies although it has been a while. That is a hot little plane. I spent so long building it that I worry about crashing it though! I've really been having a ton of fun with the micro helis lately since I can fly all around my house with them. Plus they are cheap enough to push the limits with.

I decided to try one of the Husky HD cabinets today. Came assembled other than putting the legs on. I am very happy with it for $178. I bought one of the Coleman cabinets to try and it was not near as good a build quality and it cost twice as much. Here is a quick cell phone pick. I'm planning to do about 5 of these together along with uppers and two of the tall storage cabinets eventually. Really glad to settle on these. Been pulling my hair out trying to decide what I wanted.

Notice I also pulled off the "husky" logo which I think looks cleaner without. Took a while to get all the double sided tape goo off though.

Hi Chad. Your previous garage looked amazing. Really looking forward to seeing the new one evolve. I really like the Husky cabinets. I put several in recently and they have a very clean look.
