Chad, I was rummaging through the earlier pages of this thread and I wanted to ask you a question. How does your current garage compare to your previous one now that you have put all the time and effort into whipping it into shape? Love to hear a comparison if you have a chance.
Great question Rick. It's funny you ask because I find myself still looking at my old garage pictures and comparing to my new one. I have to say I like my new garage better overall mainly because it is a 3 car of course. I made a better choice with the metal Husky cabinets in the new place. I liked the white cabinets for looks but they fell apart with the moisture in the garage. I have pretty high ceilings in both but my old one had even higher ceilings.
The only thing I "think" I miss is my black and white floor in the old place. I really did like the brighter look and sometimes wonder if I should have done the tuffshield in black and white since it would stay glossy. Something about the red and gray colors with the black and white just looks really good to me but it is looking a little dated probably.
What I have to remember is that the black/white looked great but it was not practical. I spent way too much time trying to keep the white tiles clean and being bothered by it not looking perfect.
With my new racedeck design I feel like it is a "more mature" version of the old me and a little more classy and toned down yet still sharp. I think as I add more lighting it will really make the whole space pop more and I'm liking it. So far I have much better lighting in my new garage than I've ever had so that is fun to have the lights better now - still have more to go on that but getting there.
One thing my old garage had that I upgraded was the insulated carriage door. I would still like those in my new garage but it will come in time.
I have apple tv and a much bigger tv in the new garage. Pretty cool for watching shows and using it for music and screen saver.
Overall I know that I will get my new one exactly where I want it and actually go beyond the old garage once I add a car lift, jackmaster side mounts, etc so I'm looking forward to the future changes.
I'm most excited about having it pretty close to how I want it and getting to add more cars to go IN the garage over the years which is really the point for me.
What are your thoughts on my old and new space? Anything you would do or change if it was your space that I'm overlooking to really make it great?
I'm glad you asked me that question - it is fun to still daydream about fun little changes and remember how blessed I am to get to build my dream garage twice now and combine my favorite parts.
