Chads toolbox is taking forever to send my Knipex pliers....ordered almost a week ago and has not even shipped. They say with free shipping their at the bottom of the list. Most places send out within a day and the shipping is what's the difference in wait time, not getting the stuff out...thinking about canceling and getting them somewhere else.....yea and I realize it is New Years holiday..still should have been mailed out days ago..

A lot of places will always hold free shipping orders till last. So for example ToolNut lets orders with paid shipping jump line over free shipping orders, but free shipping orders will always go out within a maximum of one week even if there are more paid shipping orders. I think that's how it works. Others have similar systems that give priority to paid shipping. Not saying Chad's has that but they might.

I paid for 3 day shipping on my last chads order and it still took almost two weeks to receive the order. When I emailed and asked for a refund on the shipping since I didn't get the order in 3 days they were pretty nasty and straight out said no.

Lost any and all future business from me because of $8 bucks. order was over $300 worth of knipex and nws.

Never again!

Using AMEX will be no problem cancelling if it's not out by Monday.

I read other people's opinions on Chad's a while ago, and what they said made my stay far away from them. The thing I wanted was NWS and some knipex, but I just went to my industrial dealer instead as he gives me like 70% off on knipex.

If you guys want nws or knipex, get a hold of Ash at germanhandtools. Always had good luck with him and he is a member of the board.

Dude chads is horrible all year round......

Absolutely. I've waited, too, and ended up cancelling two (or three) different orders. No notice of delays or even order receipt. Then, they have the nads to ask me to remove my negative review from Amazon by bribing me with sending a cancelled item anyway - at no cost. Told them no thanks - my review stands. Took them several weeks to credit my card, too.

One cancelled item they still shipped me several months later - and not the item they tried to bribe me with and in spite of them telling me they could find no reference to that order previously!

KC Tool is really good. Ships and packs well. I would highly recommend anyone here contact them over chads if they need something. German Hand Tools is also way better than Chad's.

Wow, I must live a charmed life

I've never had a problem ordering from Chad's even though they're in Alaska :wtf:

I ordered the new style Knipex locking hose clamp pliers and the ones for quick click clamps, along with a large Wera bit ratchet kit around Black Friday and got it in a few days. I paid for USPS priority mail though.

I seem to remember Chad's offering free shipping on their shipping option list but, there was something about that option being slow and not to use if in a hurry. :dunno:

I waited 8 months for SK to send me my metric X Frame set so, I've dealt with worse shipping delays.

Many negative and a few positive threads about this company here at GJ.
I stay away based on all the negatives.

For Knipex besides Ash and KCTool, Amazon and Sears are nice places to buy from.

I've ordered from Chad's about a dozen times. Never had a problem with them.
Seems like if they have an item in stock it gets shipped out fast, but if an item is not in stock it can take up to a month or more before it gets shipped. They need to have a better on line inventory and do a better job at letting you know if a item is back ordered. I would say if you need something right away, it would be better to find someone else to order it from. But if you can wait, Chad's is not a bad option.

I've seen many negative threads on GJ about them, and as such, avoid them.

Never had a problem either however with Chads patience is required, its definitely no Amazon. A lot of special orders are from Europe and come in shipments that might take up to a month to arrive (or more if they weren't available), things they sell regularly they stock themselves (as opposed to relying on drop shippers like most online stores).

That said I've waited longest for products from companies like Snap-On. think SO actually holds the record for me at around 6 months.

I ordered some witte impact protops and a 9 piece nws plier set from chads. Took about 30 days to ship. No notice about the delay. The witte screwdriver package was way weathered, the nws in great shape. Price was right because they will price match about anything on the internet.

Ordered a bunch of on sale wiha hex keys and bottle openers (awesome) from kctool in november.

It took about 3 weeks to ship, but they did contact me to let me know. The outer package was severely damage but the inside was so well packed nothing was damaged so I applaud them for that.

H.J Epstein is the best so far, I will try Ash or others in the future.

Kctool have amazing service.

chads toolbox is little bit cheaper.
but when you pick free shipping, they told me their priority goes to people with paid shipping, so your order gets behind other people. my package shipped out after 2 weeks.
it shouldn't be that way, because you reached amount that qualified for free shipping.
so if you are not in hurry, order from them.

I started ordering through chadstoolbox about a decade ago but sparingly. Never had a problem with them; however, I had one order where they threw in a bunch of pliers and one of plastic dip handles got gouged during shipment. They got that taken care of. Like some others have said, they can be slow to ship. That probably is to be expected with their low pricing while offering a wide selection of products. I use them to buy my Knipex pliers and Igera wrenches.

I've never ordered through Ash at germanhandtools, but I've heard nothing but good feedbacks about them, so I might give them a try the next time I need some Knipexs.

I just received my notice that the three piece set I ordered is in shipping status now. I ordered 12/27 and did not expect shipping until next week. I did see the notice that shipping would be slow, or something to that effect. Being I didn't start the day out to buy Knipex until I stumbled on this thread, I'm not too worried when I get them
I'll keep us posted.

FYI KC Tool is an Alliance Vendor as well. 10% off if you're an Alliance member

To be fair here, December 27th, 28th and 29th were normal work days for a lot of people. I got stuff shipped right after Christmas too without a hiccup. I think it's a combination of Chad's Toolbox being renowned for slow spotty shipping and the holidays probably making things even worse.

I almost ordered my Wera Chiseldrivers from Chad's but I saw all the terrible experiences on here and got them from Amazon for a good price shipped very quickly.

I realize a lot of people have negative reviews about chads, but I bought a few (key word) tools from them in the past and the wait was not that bad. They have a set of tools that I would like to try (the review on the GJ was a mixed bag) so maybe I will give them a call and order them.

I will report back to you guys on how things went when I place my order and also report back how the tools are working out good or bad.

Chad's is the most corrupt/incompetent tool retailer on the internet:

http://www.resellerratings.com/store/ChadsToolbox

Below is one of the typical reviews from that site. I've only bought from them once, and my experience was almost as bad.

"I should have checked here before ordering. This is one website that I would avoid at all cost.

Placed my order and credit card got charged the next day. Then, no more communication from them until I emailed them 2 weeks later. Told me items are on backorder and will fulfill in 2 weeks. Another 2 weeks passed by and no communication. Emailed again, they told me to wait another 2 weeks.

After 2.5 months, I can't wait any longer, requested to cancel my order. Now, they are charging me cancellation fee!! This was after I saw discrepancy in refund posted to my CC. They didn't even communicate this "cancellation fee" to the customer before or after the order was cancelled.

Just to add, they didn't apologize or feel sorry about what happened in all email communication. I am going to dispute the charge with AMEX if they don't refund "cancellation fee". "

Ermahgerd....much such horrible. Comical it is.

Well, to finish the OP's title, Chads toolbox is........proof that if you find a niche product that is in high demand (e.g. fine German tools in America), you can be a total ****** and still stay in business.
