Chain breakers..

Anyone have a decent chain breaker that will do ANSI 25 and 41 roller chains? I would prefer not to buy the PacRim rubbercheesepotmetal cheapies, but don't really want to drop a couple hundred bucks or more on a bench unit. The motorcycle and bicycle units won't do either, so they're out.

The pin heads have to be drilled rather than ground off, as any scratches on the side plates turned that section of chain into instant junk. US or European made chain stock is getting harder to find and isn't cheap.

I've always used a grinder, but i mostly deal with 60, 80 and 120.

25 is really tiny. I don't think the Smith B5035 can do those. You would need a smaller punch.

I use a Renold 10101 its rated for:
9.525 mm/0.375" to 15.875 mm/0.625".
BS and ANSI Series.

Why are scratches an issue?

My chains are on logging equipment so it's not fussy.

Scratches damage coatings, which can lead to rust or corrosion. Where these are installed, it would take from hours to days of work to simply be able to inspect them and therefore a large expense. They get lubircated well on install and some only can be seen at time of major airframe repair or rework is done.

Looks like it will probably be the Lynx 25-60. Neither model of the Smith, or the Renold will do #25, which is a .250" pitch
