Changing compressor wiring

Yes, I've been answering questions regarding all those. I haven't been changing voltages at all. If you read the first post you'll see I have a 240v dedicated plug. The compressor I was told was rewired for a 220v 20amp plug which I don't have.
I'm new here and just trying to get some help and knowledge and if other members are going to ask me questions of how I run a welder or heater then I'm going to answer them.

Switch it. It's 3 wires. 2 hots and a ground.

Thank you, that's what I thought but wasn't sure as there was no question. Also, thank you for all your help. I'll continue to search for a compatible adapter for the wiring it came with instead of tearing it apart.

You can make an adapter pretty easily, all you need is a 6-30 plug, a 6-20 connector and some 12/3 cord, any length.

The green wire in the cord is the only one that matters, it absolutely must be connected to the ground terminal in both plug and connector.

Black and white can go to either terminal, it doesn't matter.

Around WWII it was 115/230V, three phase motors were rated 220/440V in the 1960's until they went to the current 230/460V & also 200V rather then 208V, electric ranges & dryers will be a lower KW then rated for at 220V.
