So really what's the point in buying 5 pair other than to resell or horde

A bunch of members and others people (SD folks) bought the max just so they could put them on ebay. Leaving others with zip. :headshake

I just think it is pretty greedy/******/insert other word of choosing, going out of ones way to inconvenience others just to gain a few bucks. But that seems to be the mentality of society today. Screw the other guy just so you can get ahead. To each their own. At the end of the day there is no moral right or wrong as long as those people can sleep at night. What goes around comes around though, at least I hope.

Gonna have to disagree with you there boss. I'm ebaying them myself. It's called entrepreneurship. I worked for it. I get on the Hot Deals and SD all the time to check up. That's work.

Everybody else had the same amount of time and ability to purchase said items. I was there first b/c I worked for it. And I'll reap the rewards because of it. I'm not out to "screw" the other guy just so I can get ahead. I'm just trying to get ahead period.

There's a lot of people that will pay 22/23 bucks for these, but won't check HOT DEALS & SD every day to get them for 5 bucks. They are lazy and I am not. That's just the way it is.

Let me also add that if I had got in on this deal I would have sent zkling a cutter on my dime. That's just the way I do things...

I sent a guy here a nice new pair of Wiss snips that I got on clearance and all I asked was that he came up with something simple in return for a trade. Zip/Nada/Nothing is what I got in return. :dunno:

But isn't that the normal price? How long do you sit on them before they sell at nearly retail. Then the fees, shipping, and additional time spent listing over and over, and shipping. I just don't see any money to be made on small ticket items like this. Just seems like a waste of time unless you regularly garage sale or swap meet. Then you have to lose the real estate until they move. I dunno, to each their own. I've got better things to do with my limited spare time.

I'll make about 50+ bucks. I click and buy from Amazon, shipped to my door, then go to ebay and copy a template, put QUANTITY 5. The ad runs till it sells. Only one ad. When one sells, it goes in a flat rate envelope. I have a pile. Postage is bought at discount through ebay. Print it out, put on envelope and place in mailbox for mailman.

Sure, I'll sit on them a little while. But every time one sells, that's a half a tank of gas for the car.

To me at least, it's easy. Still work, but easy.

I'm new to the ebay thing, but hell, I bought this for 5 bucks at goodwill yesterday, posted it on ebay last night, sold today for $45 + s/h. made about 38 bucks and had fun learning that TOD'S WALLETS are worth money. That's one more thing I'll look out for at yard sales. http://www.ebay.com/itm/251362895741?ssPageName=STRK:MESOX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1559.l2649

I agree with you, 100%. It this is "working" for some, then have at it. It all comes around, and the people that want to screw everyone else to make a $4 profit for 2 hours of work can just go **** on one of my diesel exhaust pipes.

I think it's ridiculous that you guys go to work everyday and expect some one to pay you more than the cost of your gas and and food.

You are really screwing over your boss. You should NOT be making any type of profit for your hard work!

By doing the type of thing you're doing, it strongly discourages companies from having these sales & specials.

And really... That is nothing close to a good analogy.

Discourages? How so? They sold them, didn't they? They put a QUANTITY MAX 5. They did that. I was still playing by their rules.

And as for the analogy, you guys are implying that hard work shouldn't be rewarded, and whenever someone gets a deal and resells it, it is screwing the other guy over. Let me tell you what stores do. They buy for cheap and sell for profit. You aren't screaming that they are screwing over the other guy. Have you never made money off a b/s?

And besides, I have NO obligation to you or anyone else to not buy more of one item because you might want it. This isn't Cold War Communist Russia.

I'm not trying to come across as a ****. I have respect for you guys man to man, but I feel that you think if you don't get a slice of the pie, then no one else should.

People on this site are so funny about this issue. What do you think the businesses you frequent every day do?

This deal was active for several days. I got in on it at $10, and anybody who frequents this board had the chance as well. Who knows if Amazon only had a fixed number, or maybe it was for a limited time period and nobody got "screwed" by others.

The general feeling is jealousy. I've been on both sides of the coin for some of the deals posted here. If I don't get in on it, I get over it and watch eBay for them to pop up for a few bucks cheaper than retail (saw a few sets already listed for $17 shipped, $6 off of regular amazon retail and free shipping) or wait for a deal on it again if it happens every once in a while. I'm not whining and bitching about the guys who got the CMAN Pro 31" and 10" pry bars this morning. I'll wait for them to go on eBay and check out the prices, or wait for them again on sears.com.

They believe it isn't "fair" that someone else gets more than them. They believe they are entitled to these deals and should get them. Therefore anyone who takes advantage of these deals is greedy and evil if EVERYONE doesn't win from it. It's not like we are scamming anyone or ripping them off.

No participation ribbons in the real world. Sorry.

I regret bringing it up. Arguing morals/ethics is like arguing politics or religion. There is no real right or wrong, just what each person believes and stands for. 99.9% of the time people will not change their view point, so there is no point in arguing about as it only creates friction. Congrats to all. Lets hope they go on sale again.

It really depends how a person defines those terms. In my mind those they do this, especially those that buy 5 to sell 5 are just going out of their way to inconvenience others without really adding anything to the product. Just a worthless middle man. Now on the used market I can somewhat deal with as I personally feel that is quite a bit different. But going from one online retailer to another, come on. Just my opinion.

Well, zkling. I joined GJ to learn, and learned I have. And I'll agree to disagree with ya, b/c I do like you and we get along. I think you're a cool cat.

But I'm in business to make money. I'm not in charity.

Now in friendship, things are 100% different.

Either way, no hard feelings.

(This whole thing reminds me of the "GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS SPEECH". I won't link it b/c it's ****, but y'all can youtube it if you haven't seen it.)

I'll put my two cents in on this. I am not happy about these situations not because some people choose to buy and sell. That's business, I get it. I'm not happy because this section (to me) is not about helping people to make money is about helping to guys to find good deals on tools. When someone on this board takes advantage of that to make a buck it seems a little off color. Now if we are all in it to make money how about a nice finder's fee for the people that do all the leg work. Then it's all out in the open. Otherwise it just discourages people from posting. It's all opinion and I know it won't change anyone's mind, but that is where my thoughts are. Now SD is a totally different animal. ..

That is a very good point! Maybe Ryan should create a sub-forum called "Find-N-Flip" for the people who just want to make $$$ buying and selling tools. :D

If they want to flip it, it's up to them. Personally it's not enough money to be worth my time to list, ship, etc

I feel I am being attacked for buying 5 of these.

What happened is I seen they went down to $5, this was after I had already bought one at $10. I figured it was a pricing mistake or something when I seen someone posted they were at $5. I knew it wouldnt last long. I was on my phone and didnt want to pay shipping and 5 of them just got me to the free $25 shipping so I quick bought them before the price went away.

I didnt have anything in my Amazon cart to fill in free shipping since I had just bought a pair at $10 and emptied any saved items I had.

I had already stated I have no intention of ebaying them. I may offer them up for trade in the classifieds here but more as a sweetener on a deal or something like that.

I also stated earlier I will give one to my Dad.

I have had a few PM's for some and am willing to sell them at essentially no profit. I had an offer for $10 shipped yesterday but I would be losing money on that.

As for zkling, I am planning on taking care of him yet since he asked nicely. I actually stopped by the post office to get some flat rate boxes this morning while out running errands so I can get him an accurate shipping price to see how cheap I can get him 1 or 2 pairs.

I think everyone needs to take a deep breath and relax.

yeah that seems to be the general sentiment of many. I also think its why there is just not that many deals being posted anymore.

Personally I just dont think its worth it to make a few bucks. By the time all the sellers hit ebay with their 5 also the price will barely be $15 if you want to move them quickly.

I got my $10 pair yesterday. Ordered it before the $5 deal. And since I don't have Prime and didn't need two pair, I didn't order any $5 pairs.

This thing is nice. Definitely worth the 10 bucks. I don't cut much that is not steel, so I probably won't use these much. I guess I might use them to cut Romex wire from time to time. Or cut RG6 cable for cable TV. But for 10 bucks, made in the USA, it's worth getting them.
