Try some of the local tow companies. When they scrap a vehicle, they usually go through them really well. The ones near me have BUCKETS of old cheap tools. You might get lucky there. I ended up at a local swap meet (forgetting about the tow companies) and bought mine for about 0.25 cents each. The cobalt drill bits, spacers, bolts and nuts actually cost me more than the wrenches.

I used them for my cabinet handles and also drawer pulls.

I was in Lowes a week ago and they had individual wrenches on clearence.. 2-3 bucks i think.. Another place would be Harbor Freight. Maybe the pawn shop? Sears as well but they are pricey.

Cripe. They got 1000+ of some sizes of wrenches. Brands like KD, and Kobalt USA.

Brent, I think the previous suggestions of bulk lots/old stock of any old respected brand is the way to go.
The thought of decorating with cheap junk wrenches is unseemly and should not be considered...............ever. You would have to look at the slag for years to come. You would have to hear this from friends :
"Oh cool handles!Wow!"............(as they look closer)... "oh..Chinese"..............

One of the members on here has done that but can't remember who. He showed pics of where he did it to his kitchen cabinets. IIRC there were standoffs welded to the back of the wrenches to mount them to the doors.

As far as cheap wrenches, check Flea Markets, garage sales, Dollar Generals, Big Lots.

Just a few ideas from different sites:

I wanted to do this when I made new cabinet doors. I couldn't find anyplace that had 4 of them in the same size. Menards had some cheap polished wrenches but only 2-3 at a time. I fianlly said piss on it. I should have just bought a few at a time when I was there.

Now that this thread comes up, I think I know when I can get some but I'd have to make a little trip over there. There's a surplus store nearby, they carry everything from tools (cheapo) military stuff, small engines, mower parts galore and military trucks. I know they have wrenches, I just need to go and check what size.

I would call the manufacturers and see if you could buy some in bare metal, weld your stand-offs and then have them powder coated, chromed, etc

Just my .02

+1 for Lowes.

Ours still has a couple of sizes of gear wrenches for $2-3 a piece, the Kobalt combinations are even cheaper. You could practically put gear wrenches on every drawer for less than the price of a normal handle :)

I was reading your post and thought to myself it sounds like he is talking about Glens. I looked over at your location, yup Ohio. Then I finished reading and saw the link. I grew up 10 or so miles from there. You have to love a store that has a terrible model of the Space Shuttle on the roof.

They took it down years ago. Think something a 14 year old would make out of a refrigerator box. Maybe a little nicer.

Wrenches would look neat. If you go cheap you could probably hit up a pawn shop and get a handful.

Anyone used rebar for handles? Or is that played out?

Gonna point out Cripe again. Plenty of USA Kobalt, and USA KD wrenches... Satin, and high polish. Long, standard, and stubby. Plenty of stock, and good prices.
