The only trouble with wood is we have a tendency to over load the drawers with heavy steel tools.
Built right and used sensibility, you have something your grandchildren can fight over.

A bit of a myth there, really. A properly engineered wood drawer will handle any load except maybe a full load of lead blocks.

The OP's design looks to be a perfect example of a wooden box designed to hold tools. It's narrow, not too deep and sports rugged slides. I'm sure the tolerances are tight.

It won't dent rust or rack. Scratches will add to the patina.

Bet you can't tell I'm a huge fan of wooden boxes!
