Did your upholstery shop build that seat for you?
No, I purchased the frame and foam package from Glide Engineering. I looked a lot of different wrecking yard seats and they had issues. While many could be made to work the Glide frame mounts to the factory locations and the seat bottom folds up to allow access to my fuse box and remote brake fluid reservoir.

I like what you are doing. I have a 1953 IHC R110 in the works. It will be a 4X4 on Dana 44s and powered with a Cummins 4bta TH475, NVG241c
I will be watching. Thanks for showing your beautiful workmanship.

I have owned IHC pickups for decades. Old IHC used to be inexpensive. Now, a Cornbinder pickup is priced like a Chevy/GM was two decades ago. The GM/Chevy trucks are at the top of the market in 2022. I like the old truck rounded body panel charm.
That seems to have a certain charm, lol.

Wow, that color is gorgeous! That's going to be a beautiful truck, I like the two-tone too - go figure.

An update would be great.

Just put a new wheel and column in mine.

Great looking steering wheel. Would you share the source? I ordered a wheel 3 or 4 months back and still waiting.

I just spent this evening going through your thread and I thank you for sharing another fine build with us.
I've enjoyed your attention to the details as I'm in the middle of an El Camino build and you have reminded me of the little things that mean soo much in the end. Your color choice is stellar.
Please keep it coming

Thks, for the comment. Color covered the spectrum until I settled on the combo of my Austun Healey 3000 silver blue and old english white.

Looks excellent! What year car is it from? I searched Chevy off the 40's and didn't come upon it. Also, is it 18" or 15"? Looks stock bigger size which I'd prefer for mine.

Chevs of the 40s part number for the ivory wheel is 986545W.

They have a black one too.

I just measured the diameter at the centerline of the rim of the steering wheel and it is 16" and the max OD is 17"

This steering wheel is a reproduction of an 'accessory' steering wheel sold for the 50-52 Chevy sedans. The spline is the same as the AD trucks and for most GM steering shafts into at least the 60s.

Assembled the truck bed floor drilled the mounting holes. Needed a 1/16th gap to the truck bed to allow for any change in the wood. Happened to find some wood paint sticks that measured 1/16".

Pulled the boards to finish sanding with 220. Applied Red Chestnut stain and will wait for the stain to cure before applying a Poly coat or 2.

Had a case of three steps backwards as had to disassemble the front grill to allow access to the yellow tape put in place to protect the paint. Slow going as getting everything to fit is always a lot easier when there isn't paint!

First day that I took our puppy, Gnocchi into the shop. She spent time on the moving blankets and exploring all the new places. She did well and didn't chew up any special tools.20230116_122847.jpg

It'll be her truck soon. How do I know? My recently departed, best friend Joey LOVED riding in "his truck". I've not taken my new pups in it yet but I'm sure they will love it too. Dogs love trucks!

Great picture of the Master of the Truck! Sorry for the loss of Joey but hopefully he rides shotgun in your memoires.

At your current level of progress on this project, I would imagine everything is a slow go, as to not damage any finished work already completed.

@Dan in Pasadena nice 55’. Are there more pictures of it in another thread here on GJ?

Thank you for the kind words.

Hmmm, maybe in one of my posts about my house but really only the exterior. I don't want to hijack this thread by inserting any more photos here but I do have more.

If it's not against the rules (?) I'll post a link to my thread on the truck on 67-72chevytrucks.com website. If moderators have a problem with this please feel free to delete it.

It has pics from when I bought the truck in 2011 as pretty much a derelict, my initial efforts making it into a shop truck look, then the tear down and then the build from frame up.

Maybe you can get a mini magnetic fender cover made for the door window so the dog doesn't mark the paint up.

Applied the final coat of poly and will hit the boards with 1500 before final installation. Started working on the window installation and managed to break the rear window. Did not have the best tools so have ordered tools and a window and will tray again. Want the rear and corner windows in before mounting the bed.

Installed bed boards and mounted bed on truck. One board will be modified to install a door to access the gas tank. Pulled truck out to send off to the alignment shop. Alignment is pretty close but it was done with tape measures. Shop will also look over the entire truck to see if there are any items we have missed. Couple of hours up on a lift and having another person look at things is pretty cheap insurance!20230420_080908.jpg20230411_143312.jpg

Your Truck is FANTASTIC! The color brings out the curves in the AD body. The workmanship is top notch, wonderful job.

Steve
Steve,

Thks, I took me a long time to decide on the color, Thought of red, dark green and a bunch of other colors but finally decided on the current color as it is my favorite Austin Healey combination.

that is a beauty! You should be proud of that. (y)
Thks, I enjoy the process of putting a project together. Now will have to decide of I drive or sale. Looking for a Morgan as it was one of the cars I drove in high school so if I find a good project might put the truck on the market.
