+1 agreed.

I'm treating HF like Walmart, avoiding it and the ghetto rats that shop and work there.

so everyone who shops or works at wal mart or hf is a ghetto rat? so a lot of the members on this forum are ghetto rats also? that's a very nice thing to say. so because you're an engineer you're better than all those people?

No need to get your ******* in a wad, I'm not suggesting either of those in the least. I'm simply stating that I am refusing to shop at any store which I dont feel safe in, especially when the merchandise holds little appeal for me. Walmart never held much appeal for me bc SWMBO typically handles "those" types of items. HF held a bit 20 years ago when they still sold decent tools and equipment, but the quality has been spiraling downhill the past decade or so and many items that used to be somewhat common amongst professional users have been discontinued or are only sold via other importers like Northern. Regardless, there have been far more major issues at those two chains than other major retailers in this area so like many I avoid them. Link below is to one of our less-dangerous but more publicized recent incidents.

Our WalMarts turn into a completely different world after 10pm...not safe at all. They literally do turn into a ghetto during the night hours.

Chinese investors are attempting to build a “China City” in Michigan,

http://economyincrisis.org/content/america-a-chinese-colony

China is going to basically buy up Detroit, interesting people raving about how great China is. One day you may be serving them.

More than 10% debt, we are on the hook of tens of TRILLIONS to China in fact the USA is bankrupt. Once people get tired of floating us more money the dollar will collapse.

China has a caste system, they have the elite class and the people who are basically serfs. Hard to compete with someone who makes less than $30 a month living in a company dormitory basically less than $1 a day.

I'm not going to drag this thread into some kind of big debate on national debt (which I think everyone can agree is way too high) so this will be the last I say on it in this thread. Mainland China owned 7.2% of US debt as of the end of August 2014, the latest figure I could find in a 30 second Internet search. This is fact. Japan owned 7% at that time. Federal entities owned about 30%. 65% of all debt is domestically held. So the only entity owning anything close to "tens of trillions of dollars in debt" is the US government, which owns about 10 trillion dollars of it's own debt. These are facts, easily researched.

Stop trying to ruin the fear monger scenarios so prevalent here.
If you ruin those then you ruin the scenario I've crafted too.
It involves being chased (and caught) by this entire brigade..

Detroit is a lot of slums, deserted, run down, and collapsing buildings.
It's a horrible place.
Let China buy it.

China could buy any city why on earth buy Detroit.

Fresh water for free and natural resources, one has to ask themselves why is the USA being purchased by a Communist country?

They are going to take what they want, after all we owe them money and they do not want 'monopoly money'.

This last quote of this article gets me. "We need to stand up and demand better for America!"

Standing up and demanding is akin to a baby crying for it's soother. We're not babies and no one's going to hand us a soother. Individuals need to stand up and start buying by coo. Waiting for a new leader to guide you is futile as they all have enough stocks and bonds from selling out to buy an island off the french Riviera and retire with their families and the rest of the 1%ers.

When India won self government from the British Gandhi told the people to only wear "homespun" He had them take all their British fashions and throw then into a big heap and burn them. Everyone started spinning cotton and wearing traditional clothes. Same here, we need to buy tools by coo before quantity or price. The next time you find yourself in one of those long line ups take a good look at the coo in your cart and ask yourself what is the real price you're paying. Buy home<s>spun</s>made.

A chinese associate I had 10 years ago who had a similar business to mine let me in on a chinese business tactic. They would come to me with some work. They would give me more and more work so much so that I'd kiss their *** when they came in. Then one day they would approach me and offer me so much work it would be the only job I'd need. They would require me to prove to them I could handle all the work being offered before giving me the work. They would assist me in upgrading to a whole lot of new equipment to handle all the work and once I had it all set up they would disappear leaving me with no work and so much debt I would go broke. They would attend the foreclosure sale and buy all the new equipment along with my business at 10₵ on the dollar. This is why they would buy Detroit in it's present condition instead of trying to buy a flourishing city.

You know Harbor Freight is a american owned and founded corporation. So I would think these tool names are chosen by Americans.

I just got another HF coupon email. This time it was for electric outdoor power equipment. It seems they're rolling out a new brand name. They've usurped Chicago and Pittsburgh. Now the dragon eats Portland. :Violent:

Hahaha.

"Western Safety" is now "Hardy". Mind blown.

Any guy that says he don't own anything from harbor freight is a liar. If there's one in your town you own something from them.

I agree, it's a business practice, but it's not exclusive to China. I know this for a fact. Happens all over the world, including in the US.

China is not dumb, they want the LAND/RESOURCES that the USA has and they will take what they want.

We sure don't have an opposition in stopping it, after all we can't seem to stop buying the garbage they are selling.

I do see some gas companies being purchased by China now as well.

Anyways, the fleecing of the USA is up for the highest bidder and back room deals with politicians.

Don't worry tho, maybe one day someone can get to work at UN-Honorable Freight!!!

Canada's in the same boat. Given it's close proximity to China I'll bet Australia is just getting raped. There's some big money to grab during the sell off but once you've sold the farm the next generation won't know on which side their bread is buttered.
