all these nonsense answers... do you guys realize Eastwood's is built in China as well? Id say that theres a very good chance of most scroll compressors out of China to be the same quality as the one you would receive from Eastwood.

At least you have Eastwood to stand behind their products. Same as with their welders.

I don't know why you started a new thread. There has been an ongoing duscussion of the Eastwood compressor from when it was announced through the first reviews, by people getting the first deliveries. It got a lot of attention because there was nothing comperable available to the small shop in this price range, as far as I know. At present, it is an Eastwood scroll compressor made in China or buy a conventional 2 cyl piston on a 60 or 80 gal tank. or spend a few thou on an established brand scroll. If you think "Made in China", makes it unacceptable, then look elsewhere.

You got me wrong. I want to know if anyone has experience in buying a chinese made scroll air compressor different of the one of eastwood.

together with 12 friends we are planning in buying in China scroll air compressors from another vendor in similar tech specs of those of eastwood.

Cheaper and most important: available.
Eastwood will NOT sale me 12 compressors.... (thats another story)

I am in Colombia, so I am seeking for experience from other vendors.

Thanks

Problem is you are saying "China"... That's like asking what is the quality of a European light bulb...

There's thousands of companies making hundreds of models of varying quality. (Of both light bulbs and scroll compressors)...

A majority will be made in China or Mexico, neither really instills much confidence when you are shopping for the cheapest available... In the end, you always get what you pay for...

LOL, now that is the truth.... from what I understand, Chinese product (not American company COO stuff), the quality varies from 0 to 100 dependent who you source it from......

I have seen some copy of Baldor look alike grinders 10" ones and that is industrial quality, then I have a ****** Chinese welder POS, that choke and die just from not being used....

Also, you would need to think about support for the compressor/components if anything breaks... when you buy one off from companies that are Chinese company based in China.... not a good choice for some machinery stuff.

Not a scroll compressor per say.
But I did see this dental compressor on craigslist, from the pic it looks like 3 giant California Air type compressor tandem... not to advertise it, but just to show they do have some industrial stuff... just not sure about the copyright/copyleft of things...and not sure why they are selling it... looks like used and pic were taken from a warehouse somewhere.

maybe take the business name from the nameplate and see if they sell something of scroll type?

https://newyork.craigslist.org/que/for/d/like-new-dental-air-compressor/6492181312.html

As far as buying it from Eastwood.... if they don't sell it to you, maybe you can find a company stateside that does freight forwarding ....?? Not sure about the logistics involved.

Like EVERYTHING else: NOBODY goes to China to improve quality. They go to China to improve profits.

Every time I mention it, I'm attacked by a couple people on here, so I'll stay out of it because it just gets stupid. BUT! I have read about people buying tractors from China, by Chinese companies, where the tractor showed up with all interior lubricated areas filled with rank used oil mixed with water, and all inside components full of rust. I actually saw the photos of the new tractor. Also have read about Chinese built tractors breaking in half as well, when the owner went to pick up a load with the loader. These are exceptions to the largely pleased crowd of people buying chine made products, but I myself would be leery of spending that much money, and ending up with a piece of ****.

This is true. Mainland China made is entirely different than Taiwan made. The problem is SOME things made in Taiwan are as slipshod as some of the things made in their mainland. I suspect there is an analogy to Japanese made items in the 60’s. Growing up it was referred to as “Japanese’s junk” but obviously that changed dramatically when Dr. Deming’s Quality principles began to be adopted and helped their economy revive from WWII.

With what? 6 BILLION(?) people to feed, China will eventually want to make goods for the entire world and they’ll need to feed those billions....hell, they need to already.

LOL a Dr. Deming fan.... you know when he first presented his PDCA the Deming wheel, people here laughed at him and say he is a crock and send him aboard. ..... At least the way I learn it, the Japanese culture has a better reception of his idea.. than the American. Well until the Japanese bought America then they have stopped laughing at him....

Every week, I see more stuff from Jina that I want NOOO part of.

Even down to the simple stuff like rubber compounding for caster wheels that turn gummy and/ or fall apart, and like the HF rubber stench.

The Sheit like never ends.

Irrelevant of what is "available", the issue brought up above is a question at end of day of CFM @ 110 @ WHAT amperage?

Probably an inflated (Pun) CFM rating, we will see.

just how old are you? :bounce:

Well, I wasn't born yesterday. I started school the year JFK was elected President. I was taught "cycles per second" came out of the outlet and "hertz" came out of the radio. Just the way the grownups talked about it at the time. You could buy a brand new 1955 Chevy the day I was born, so I'm not that old.

Woops, guess I was told wrong. Is 220v available at all homes?

Nop.... 220 v is not available at all homes....

In my house I have 220v, at my warehouse (mans cave ) I have 220v, but at my country house or farm I have 110v.

Colombia is not a Banana Republic anymore.... At rural places if you ask for 220v they install it but not cheap

I did not want to pay around US$ 400 to install 220v in my farm so I can operate a lousy compressor ...

How much do you know about Colombia ?

I have never been to Colombia. I do know that it is a beautiful country. I am told that the people are very friendly and you have a rich and varied history. Someday I would like to visit there. We do get spoiled here in the U.S. from all the choices we have. Every house has 120/240 volt service. You can have three phase also if it is in your area and you want to spent the money. It could cost lots, lots extra though.

So far they are either sleeping at the switch or at the donut shop.

Question is what amp is this 3 HP 110-120 volt motor ?

It fine if it’s a 30 (plus minus) amps.........it’s just very unusual motor and is the location setup to handle that power requirements.

Most electrical outlets for 120v are (maximum) 20 amp breaker / 12 ga wiring. It would have to be a special circuit to accommodate a 30 amp service
Edit: whoops! above is US code... the local code of the OP would prevail.

And, if you're like me, you call this (#) a pound or number symbol, not a hashtag.:bounce:

I'm five years older than you.

Agree that’s why I mentioned it..........is 30 or 35 amp 110-120v common in the Columbia or any where ???? It’s not common in the US and many other locations.

Yes, I have a 250# weight on the front of my tractor. And radio frequencies were expressed in kilocycles and megacycles. Kilohertz and megahertz were used also. We had real gas for our cars too. You can't pump Ethyl at the gas station anymore-well, not the same Ethyl as we used to get.haha
