Got the pillow blocks and axle bolted up.

And built the column today.
3" pipe x 8' long, with a blind flange to bolt it to the concrete pad.
It will be bolted down with 4 ea 5/8" hilti bolts, nuts top and bottom, to plumb the column.
The top has a 1" nut welded to the bottom side of the cap, to screw the axle in, with a jam nut.

Got the hilti's in and a friend stopped by to help tip it up, onto the pad.
All of that was done under the cloak of darkness!
Anyhow I'll get some pics tomorrow, in the daylight.

Beautiful work on the airplane. I'm curious if you painted the original fan blades or re-made them in another material?
I made a project of a ceiling fan a while back and a few coats of spray paint didn't have any effect on preservation of the blades of an unknown wood-appearing substance. They disintegrated in a couple of months of Minnesota spring rains. I took a pattern of one mostly-there blade and cut out replacements from the walls of a plastic barrel and the slight curve actually added a little to the piece I think.
Thanks again for taking the time to show us Southerners what can be done with a little time and imagination.

The propeller is made from some form of paper/wood garbage.
It will more than likely need replaced before too long.

This could possibly be the ultimate, useless kitchen gadget, ever.
It is cobbled together from an angle drive for rolling boiler tubes and some other junk.
It is for our eldest daughter and we're betting it will make her laugh.

Reworked the base, lowered and scalloped on the back.
Cut and bolted on some plastic feet.
Brightened the bronze gearbox
Added a valve handwheel to hold the roll on.
Lastly, smeared some oil on it.
This has a good mix of colors,
rusty steel, shiny steel, bronze, brass, malleable iron, red lead, black plastic and zinc.

Spent a fair bit of the day attempting to design an end table for our middle daughter, gained some, but ran out of inspiration.
Needing to keep on, I made a die for one of our grandsons, out of some 2"X1/4" flat bar.
It turned out decent enough not to have to grind it and lose the patina.

Cut an ellipse from some bowling alley lane and got it rough shaped.

Tomorrow, I'll see about making some legs from these bends.

Debateing wether to wrap the edge of the top in copper or steel.

While the legs look ok, it is not as stable as I would like.
It should help a little, when the feet get attached.

Made a revision on the legs today, at first glance, I didn't much care for it.
But it's growing on me,now.

He's old enough not to chuck it through a window and young enough to tear up some flooring!

To fasten them, I tacked some strut nuts up inside the legs.

Lastly, got started on edging for the top.
Annealed, split and flattened some 3" L copper for it.
A little tricky, laying out for the fasteners, to keep away from the hardened screw nails that hold the boards together.

Fit up the copper today

First half formed

Second half formed, still needs a bit of trimming and pecking at the lap joints.

Finished up the end table today.

Swedged a couple copper sleeves in the top for phone cords.
Stained and oiled the top.
Fastened the edging with galvanized teco nails.
Oiled the steel.

And the icing on the cake, soldered a copper bottom to a brass floor sink funnel for a drink/phone holder.
It has a pin on the bottom to to engage the sleeves in the top, making it tip proof and removable.
The whole project strikes me odd, in a good way.
