Hi,
First I would like to thank you all for what you have posted. This is an incredibly informative forum.
I am not an electrician, but I plan on running power from the meter, mounted on the power pole (pole belongs to me, not the power co.), to the shop 200’ away. I have opted for direct bury.
I would like to install a disconnect at the pole. I realize I will have to also run a neutral after the disconnect.
My thought is that an outside breaker box with feed through lugs, would serve my purpose for a disconnect, and allow for a couple outside circuits in the future.
My question is am I ok to install that breaker box on the other side of the pole from the meter box? I would run out the lines from the side of the meter box to the side breaker box using two “LB” 90 degree elbows. The diameter of the pole is too small to run that horizontally, but I have room to move the breaker box up the pole, and keep it below the 6’7”. Sorry my sketch isn’t great, but maybe it’s better than my description.
