Circular Saws - How many do you have?

Do you use different circular saws on a regular basis?

I have a couple good ones Skil worm, Bosch, Porter Cable and a couple old Black and Decker / Craftsman ones probably worth $5 at a garage sale. I can't simply toss them as they work. One has a steel cutting blade, one diamond concrete blade, one fiber blade, one for wood etc.

Do you keep them loaded for multiple tasks like folks that have multiple grinders?

Otherwise what do you do with them?

Three. There’s always two skill 77’s, one for fine wood working..ha! And one for making cementious based dust. Normally the fine wood working unit is passed down long before it’s worn simply because the other let the smoke out. I’ve owned several cabinet style saws but prefer my blades on the left. Then there’s the Milwaukee metal chip maker saw.

4, 7&1/4” Dewalt that was a gift years ago. 7&1/4 B&D and 7&1/4 Metal body WEN that I inherited when my brother passed away and either 9” or 10” antique metal body B&D that I got from work. They were cleaning out old stuff and it’s a functional antique saw that I figured would be cool to have. I’m wanting a Mag 77 Skilsaw as I like the idea of the blade on the left side.

I have two inexpensive corded sidewinders and a 6.5", blade-left cordless saw. I also have a corded track saw, if that counts.

I probably should get rid of a sidewinder but you never know when you might trash one cutting with an abrasive blade or whatever. But honestly I don't even know where either of them are at the moment. The last time I used one was doing the cross cut on a maple butcher block sink cut out well over a year ago. I didn't have my track saw at the time or I would have used that.

I do occasionally work with big slabs and beams so the Makita 9" track-ready saw is tempting but I just don't think I can justify it. Too specialized and wouldn't get used much.

I'm like you, can't pass up a free or $5 saw. I have 3, crosscut blade, rip blade and currently a brick blade plus I have a cordless with combo blade that paid for itself when I did a roof (without extensions). Now I use it for 1 cuts or quick simple jobs I don't need to deal with stringing extensions for.

Skill 77 because you can't live west of the Mississippi and do much framing without realizing you need one.

Dewalt 20v 7-1/4" which gets the most use any more. Unfortunately while I love the cordless saw I should have bought the Flexvolt worm drive style because sidewinders **** for framing work.

Dewalt 20v Atomic saw, cool little saw for cutting panels, a little flimsy but cool.

Porter-Cable 7 1/4” blade left/ corded for major framing, Porter-Cable 7 1/4” blade right corded for junk/roofing/concrete/etc, M18 6 1/2” for cabinet work and a M18 7 1/4” blade left/ worm drive. Sooo 4

I have 4. A USA made C-man 7-1/4, I bought years ago. A second like the first that I inherited from my dad. A cordless Porter Cable, 6-1/2" I think. A Ryobi cordless, same size as the PC.

I used the Ryobi today to make a set of step ramps for my Accord.

I have wood cutting blades on all four.

First was a cheap Porter Cable. My first saw and generally sufficient for my limited circular saw needs.

Black and Decker 20v cordless 5 1/2”. This is a crappy saw by almost all measures. But I would buy it again. I already had the batteries so $45 for a saw that can cut through basic 2x lumber was sure nicer that messing with extension cords for quick cuts around the yard. Yeah, it's **** compared to just about any cordless circular saw... but none of those were in my "if it's cheap enough" budget.

Craftsman rebrand of a Skill 77. This is certainly my only "good" saw. Given to me by a neighbor. Nice saw to use.

I’ve never used one,a but I really want one. Being right handed having the blade on the left side makes sense. I don’t understand why worm drives aren’t standard over here on the East coast too.

I have a red USA made SKIL 77 with magnesium shoe and housing that I baby by constantly dusting the saw dust off. Looks like new still. And then I have a new gray USA made SKIL 77 with the steel shoe still in the box never used.

At last count 12. Six corded including a Skil 77 50th anniversary edition in gold which has never been used, a Milwaukee 8" metal cutting saw and three Milwaukee sidwinders and one Bosch sidewinder. Six Cordless. The Cordless include five Milwaukee M18 (2 metal cutting) and 1 Makita rear handle double battery. I just like saws.

A pair of skill saws that were my Grandpas, an older 77 in the toolbox case and a newer skill saw with a weird orange cream colored body. They don't see much use anymore.

A hand-me-down Skill 77 that was my workhorse for good time, only had to replace the power cord as it had seen better days.

2 ryobi saws that were included in kits, a 6.5 and 7.25 brushless. Those are relegated to loaner tool status. Or if I ever get around to it Garage sale fodder.

My Dewalts are my day to day saws. The 20 volt 6.5 circ saw see's the most use. I also have the flexvolt 7.25 circ and wormdrive. At first I didn't use them much, but now that I've got more batteries they have hit the lineup more often.
