I was surfing CL around 6am yesterday morning and found an ad for an old set of SO cabinets about 10 miles from my house. The ad said make an offer. The ad had been up for a few hours and I figured he had some offers in already, but I gave it a try anyway. I offered $75. He emailed me back a few hours later saying he had an offer for $100 and if I could do $105 I could have them. I replied that I couldn’t do more than $75 and if they were still around tomorrow to let me know and I would come get them. I was debating whether to jump at the $105 but I just ordered a bunch of steel for some tables and I really couldn’t. A little while later he said come get ‘em. I was there in 15 minutes. Here is what I came home with:

I think they are from the early to mid 60’s. They need a fair amount of work but I am happy with the purchase. All the drawers work pretty well but need to be cleaned and lubed. No major dents on the sides or anything. There are no casters, but I will have some extras off of my 42” HF and craftsman 26” craftsman after I build the benches so hopefully I can use a set from there. I couldn’t find a number on the middle box. Any ideas? Any ideas on how to strip the paint. Should I use a paint striper or media blast?

They look like they'll clean up nice too. Awesome!
