Clarke is very much around and is majorly an importer, which means, quality varies greatly even for the same product and model. Most of the stuff is ignore it.
On boxes, there are some models that are good quality, usually the heavier black and gold ones. On others I have seen quality that could hold its ground on a Cummins tool sale truck. I bent a drawer on one checking it out at an Orschleins, very thin and light, this was on a model I had never seen at Tractor Supply, so they may make different models for different outlets.
We usually get them, we see it before we buy it, that way we are sure it is a good ones. Like most importers that supply to multiple outlets, the model numbers are a mess and seem to change daily or are different for each outlet, so finding the same model may be difficult. I usually look for a date of manufacture on imported items of this size. If it is older it may be hard to match. Sometimes, I have gotten items that are multiple years old, and have bounced around because of various reasons before ending up as a low price deal at some other outlet than the one that ordered it. Bought a number of large drill presses that way a couple of years ago all of them about 4 years old.
