Andy, I took some control arms and coil springs to have them sand blasted so I could paint them. The shop also does powder coating and made me what I thought was a good deal on blasting and coating my parts.
The shop owner and his son built a 1934 Chevy two door sedan that is chopped with a 455 Olds engine that is a really nice street rod. I thought about your 37 when I was checking it out.
Last week I took some heads to a machine shop to get them freshened up. The shop owner has a 1928 Ford two sedan they are restoring with stock running gear and leaving the body the natural patina since 1928. It has all it's original sheet metal and a lot of the original wood. I thought about your Vicky when I saw it.
Your shop is looking better all the time. The pictures showing the new doors and the new addition show just a tiny bit of what is going on inside.
Your thread is one that I check more than once a day. Thanks for taking the time to share part of your busy life with the rest of us.

) of that video. But I'd like to know how you got those gus to move so fast in the Terlton Tie replacement video. !
Thanks for posting! I've never priced powder coating but it is a superior coating. Should be great for underbody parts. Does it hold up under the flexing of coil springs? I figured it was brittle, but maybe not. I guess I should look into it.
I enjoyed the drill sharpening video Andy - that's something I've been needing a lesson in.
I didn't really see the point( better camera work is needed) of that video. But I'd like to know how you got those guys to move so fast in the Terlton Tie replacement video.
Oh, I'll wear clothes that I can get dirty in, I'd be disappointed if all we did was sit on the porch and watch the cows. I'll bring a can of " get going ya *******" when I show up,
Enjoy your weekend AA.
I needed a larger drill bit so you could see it easier, but that is the one I had that needed sharpening. Every time I sharpen one I remember I needed to make a video but I kept putting it off.

You already have an oven and everything except the powder and gun. After all, how hard can it be?
Maybe we will see a new skill from Andy.

I can even sell calendars of myself looking gorgeous in front of my cars

Very informative video on the bit sharpening, did you mention what grit your sand paper was? If you did I wasn't paying that close of attention...Oh look a chicken.

Whats happing with the Stude truck? Getting rid of it already?
Andy, if its going to be cold and raining Saturday, I probably can't make it downYou might pm me your phone number please.

Sorry about your loss of the Stude truck, but it sounds like it went to a good cause.
If it makes you feel any better, I always thought they looked funny anyway, like the running boards were missing.
Look at the bright side, now you have twice as much time to spend on the Ford truck, one less distraction. Good luck

Liked the video on sharpening bits.
Glad for the new home that the Studebaker is going to. If she helps on the build it will be good times for her and her dad.
Hope your get together goes well and that you do not get rained out. But then again as you went through the field in your show truck you could say that it rained on your parade.
Dwight
Oh Andy you are brilliant, just brilliant. Make painting that fence look like so much fun, oh, wait you find a nice Studebaker pickup, bring it home, show it to the right people and presto! You get someone else excited enough to fix it up with the little string attached.
Interesting story about the railroad misadventure.
Granddaughters are the best. Don't get me wrong I love my grandsons too but the girls have stolen my heart. So kudos to her for getting the rust bucket ( I mean truck)
You need to show us a picture of the foundry room so we can see how much work is needed to get it ready. Or is that going to be a "before and after" picture down the road?
I didn't think I'd be back on the GJ before Monday or I'd have waited until this morning to wish you a good weekend. Carry on AA.![]()

Andy: you don't mention much about how your wife's health is and i really commend you for doing what you are doing. i also know it can't be easy so just wanted to lend some well wishes.
Thanks for your kind words! Well wishes are appreciated.
sorry to hear your little get together got postponed, but i know it will happen maybe on a sunnier day and maybe when your bride is feeling better too.
I'm hoping to schedule something later however everything is on hold right now.
so speaking of sad i was hoping to see the old Studebaker truck when and if I come down next spring if your invitation and party becomes an annual event. so are you in charge of restoring the Studebaker too or is that your son's job? if it does get restored and the other cars head out to the other grand kids and your kids maybe they need to be invited to the party too so some of familiar with your fleet will get to see them.
When you come down next spring we'll make sure all the old cars get collected back at the homestead. Perhaps there will be more by then.
do you mind if i pick your brain a bit on old trucks? i sold 1979 18 foot flatbed last year for $800 that ran and had a very stout bed and wish i could have kept it, but the cost of just parking it was adding up so it needed a new home. that said one of my clients has his 1971 Ford F250 with a funky (maybe somewhat cool looking) canopy on it and he wants $1100. it's a 4 speed manual and he's the original owner and i can't recall the mileage, but he said it's got zero rusted out spots or he doesn't know of any.
That's a real work truck. Cool bed. That looks like a fair price to me and a real bargain from the original owner. You don't find too many 47 year old original owner trucks running around. That's one year older than my Chevelle.
i was hoping to find a 1956 or that vintage cause a trailer works for most of my needs, but i've always liked the thought of having a pick up just to throw something in if i needed to haul something. i know you'd probably find one for a few hundred or some neighbor would give you one or loan it to you for 10 years, but i live in the city and old trucks don't grow on trees especially without any rust.
You jest! I always have to pay retail plus a premium it seems. That is for anything that runs. I just don't buy much that runs already.
also hope you don't mind me cluttering up your great thread with something i don't even own (yet?) and ill delete the pictures if you want me to.
Andy, Prayers and thoughts go for your wife and you. Hope everything turns out well at the doctor.
Andy prayer group will have your wife on the list until we hear otherwise.
Andy, I know you'll take care of your wonderful wife (she puts up with you so she is obviously a truly wonderful person). You are hereby excused from contributing any and all non-wife caring posts for as long as you like.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your better half. I hope everything turns out well !!!
Thoughts with you and your wife Andy.
GB
God bless your wife and you.
Continued prayers for you both.
Prayers, for you and your best half. Keep us in the loop. Thx
Many prayers are heading your way Andy.
Prayers are going your way for you and your wonderful wife. I know how something like this can totally reset priorities. Glad to hear that she is better. Perhaps it was just a reaction to some meds. Please let her know that we are thinking about her and praying for her health. She absolutely cannot be replaced and even if one could be found, there is not enough time for you to train a replacement.
Every day above the dirt with our loved ones is a special gift.
Andy, our thoughts and prayers are with you both..
Regards
Andy I was saddened when I read the first part about your wife's seizure but was relieved when you said that she was better. I hope she continues to improve.
Dwight
Andy,
Just wanted to let you know that we are thinking of you two. You have every bit of good energy Jen and I can muster.
Scary stuff, for sure. Keep up the positive attitude and it will see you both through.
Chris
Hey you can't put a good woman down...she must be good to put up with you.
This means I'm thinking good thoughts.
Andy,
As others have said I wish you and your wife the best. Make sure you let us know when you reschedule your shindig and I'll put it on my list of things to do.
JB
Andy, I think she's got fine taste in men. You seem to be one of the good ones. That's the kind of guy I aspire to be.
I'm rooting for the both of you.
Best wishes,
Brent
Like I've said before, the only fault I can find in her is her taste in men.
