When I tried to open the link in Post #1 (as entered by the OP) this thread: http://garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=197106 I get a new window that says I'm not logged into the Garage Journal Forum. But I am looged in and can view and create threads and post to others.

I can click on other links to picures in other posts and they open correctly. I have also seen similar issues on other forums that use vBulletin software but usually I get a new window that is all blacked out except for a small empty white square. These are in fourms running vBulletin 3.8.7 or similar releases.

The clickable link that says "Click Image for larger version" appears to common in vBulletin-run forums but I don't know where it comes from.

Actually, I noticed this on both this forum today, and another I frequently use, and the login was not working.

The problem relates to how the link is formed.
This will not work (you won't be logged in):
http://garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=197106
This works:
http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=197106

Subtle difference. I don't know if there was a change made recently (maybe some vBulletin patch) but my advice is to just add the www. to the link, and give it a try,
and hopefully the administrators fix this down the road.

Tried the two links and the first one you posted actually does work (takes me to the thread I showed) but the second one takes me to a log-in page.

I have asked on another forum about where that specific text string: "Click image for larger version" comes from. In a thread, the text string appears to be in front of the URL where a pic is located.

I wonder if it's because members who want to post a pic either don't use the IMG tags or they are copying a URL from a hosting site like Photobucket and that site is not creating a useable URL string for image posting??

Photobucket did make some major changes to their website and I have read that many users of that service aren't happy with the changes in terms of ease of use.

Neither one of those links allowed me to see the picture in question, and since I am already logged in, it doesn't make sense to have to log in again. :dunno:

Still seeing this problem. Does anyone know where (or how) this text string for embedded pictures is created?? A picture should easily be inserted into a post by using the Image icon and entering the URL of the picture location. Photo hosting sites like Photobucket allow for copying the full URL string and even include the IMG tags for you.

In this thread http://garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=186751 look at post #13. There are 3 pics withing that post and all show a clickable link text that starts with "Click image for larger version... Clicking on that string takes me to a GJ login page that says I'm not logged in.
