Hello all. I picked up CM tool box at a yard sale this past weekend. It was late in the day and nobody had snagged it up. Price marked $50. Talked him down to $25. Took two guys to put it in the back seat of my car. I was gone quicker than a blink of an eye.
Size 26" long 16" deep and 19" tall. It has 10 drawers. Two rows of 3 across all the same size and 3 full size and 1 that is full size bigger in height than the other 3. Also has a locking strut on the inside of the lid. Numbers found Lt front corner of lid where a tray (not with it if there is to be ) would be placed. SO4-( 8 or 9 can't make it out )5. Color is red with dark gray drawers. Plastic CM badge upper Rt corner. It's pretty heavy. Over all shape is fairly good. Lots of old dirt and grime. No rust or dents.
My plan is to remove the drawers, sliders, badge and lock. I would like to paint it using Rust-Oleum sun rise red. Question is where can I find rattle can paint to match drawer color ( it's like a very dark gray )?
All suggestions, thoughts, ideas, helpful hints, welcome. I don't know how to post pictures, sorry. Thanks, Johnny Generic

Give it a good clean-up and polish job before thinking about a re-paint...

He may not appreciate the patina that an old box has. Some are charming and some not so much. I don't paint tool boxes, I have muck more to do than spend the time. But I have one that has nothing — no cool patina, lots of dents and stained pretty bad. It lives outside (weather OK for that most of the time in SoCal) with outside tools in it.

Wow, great score. You ****. :)

Around here, they'd have dragged that out into the dirt and taken a grainy phone pic and asked $200 for it.

Let me start over.

Would like to rattle can drawers on a CM tool box. The current color stock color is somewhat a very dark gray. Any thing close out there to use?

Why is a picture needed? Isn't the color the same on all newer drawers?

Thanks, Johnny Generic.

Sounds similar to my top that I was happy to get for $80. 1988 and made in the US. Dented but works fine for my weekend wrenching needs.
