Manwithtools,
1st i love the screen name !! i grew up with a machine shop in the basement so anything was possible , i squared my 1st block of steel on a Boyer Schultz surface grinder at age 13 . My dad has been a Toolmaker for the past 50 years , he is now retired but still comes around the shop daily to play with his machines . I branched off and discovered cnc at my last job running a Bench man as well as Micron VSP 600 with 45,000 rpm spindle and 35 place tool changer , i used my experience as a Toolmaker to find ways to make things faster and use the manual machines more effectively . A year ago i decided it was time for me to do what i like so i opened a shop servicing fishing reels , and purchased my new Tormach 1100 after looking at many i picked Tormach basically because of the tool changer , this allows me to run the machine while i do something else the concept works great , like having an employee with out issues . i will always be building something enjoy the machine they are all about the same it is all in how you use it .
