Lately with the cold weather my daily driver a 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac has been clunking on these terrible roads.
I replaced my shocks, sway bar bushings, sway bar end links, tires, and rebuilt all the calipers 6,000 miles ago and it has been running great and quiet.

If I hadn't replaced the shocks I would have said I need new shocks as the noise seemed to come from all four corners depending on the bumps I drove over.

So I wondered does the cold air affect shocks? Yesterday and today we are having a temporary warm up, and the clunking has disappeared. :headscrat
Truck rides really nice now.
Pretty sure these are KYB nitrogen filled shocks.

My sisters camry with only 54,000 miles on it broke the end of a coil spring last week. Coincidentally, in was -12 plus last week.

If it’s pretty cold out it’s probably nothing to worry about. Sounds normal for almost every vehicle I’ve had.
