Hi All, I’m new to this site and I’m enjoying the thread. I have been searching for some information regarding the vise I recently picked up. It’s a Columbian 505. I think it’s a real early one, but was looking for some insight from those who know better than me. It does not say “vise” anywhere on it. One side reads PATENT APPL. FOR with a triangle and an embossed C inside of it. The other side reads COLUMBIAN CLEVELAND NO-505 5 IN. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated as I am trying to date this unit. Thanks, bedoug

I think that would be a machinist vise, no pipe jaws or anvil section? Pretty heavy too?

Sound right?

1982fxr, it’s real heavy, yes. I believe it has an anvil section, but I am not near it right now, so I’ll get back to you on that part. It’s got two metal, straight jaws. I believe serrated but again I’ll be more accurate later when in front of it. Thanks, bedoug
