So I looked around and didn't see many stickied threads too look through for common mistakes. I am in the process of building my first shop. Main purpose is in support of my road racing addiction. Shop will be 50 X 60 and my current plan is to have two, two post lifts in it. Three roll up doors across the front with on on the rear wall to allow for roll through parking of my tow rig (22' enclosed trailer and tow vehicle). All I have for current plan is to allow 14' from outside wall for tow rig, then lift one, 5ft space from lift to lift, then lift two which should allow about 17' X 50' for open shop space. Lifts to be spaced 12' from back wall to allow for room for work table and tool box in front of them. That is all I have at the moment.
A couple of things I have considered and decided I can either put in later, or are not cost effective. A system of receivers for dead men in the slab for pulling a car straight can be put in later. An overhead lift system would be nice but is gross overkill.
I have been around a number of different shops and have put some thought into this, but am looking for the things I haven't thought of. What do you wish you had considered when building the shop?
