I replaced the springs and the plates (upper right corner) it was the only thing that came with the valve kit I ordered. Everything else I refurbished, purchased the retaining rings local.

The head was packed with steel mesh from the oil bath filter.

I chose to make a tool from an old socket to remove the valves instead of dishing out $150 for the proper tool. The valves took some work to remove and clean up.

1967...Looks like it was a lot of work bringing that one back to life. I take it the tank wasn't in too bad of shape. That must of been cool firing that thing up after you were through. :rocker:

Just got this big guy repaired and running.
Well, it does run perfectly fine but it's not running here since it is 3 phase and I don't have 3 phase.

7.5hp 80 gallon Quincy 244-16 that I picked up cause it was setting in the scrap pile at a service shop cause they didnt want to buy a motor. They bought a new compressor insted. I want to do a comlplete rebuild and paint on it.

I will look and see if there is a part number on it when I get home. It was on there when I got the compressor. I tried it with if off and it does help, but once I get my enclosure built I will probably do a remote intake to get it out of the same air as the rest of the unit.

That DV is a good looking compressor, nice that it has a made in Canada tag on it and not one from China.

I plan to upgrade my old Craftsman compressor with a 10CFM 3HP Atlas Copco compressor pump... getting it w/o the motor (3 phase) may convert to belt drive... cheaper than buying a face mount 3-hp motor

Hockey pucks. If you can find any :lol_hitti

Anyhow, good to see a Canadian buying a Canadian built unit. Unlike another patriot on this page. :eyecrazy:

guessing you're referring to me ? I actually looked into the DV units but the local supplier didn't seem too interested in making a sale. I'm as Canadian as the next guy :canada: but there's only a certain amount of effort I'll go through to give someone my money .

Yeah am just pulling ya leg. Shame the dealer didnt entertain you.

Probably cost more to ship a DV across Canada than the Quincy cost.

Shame thou as a 447 would :bigun2: that blue elephant.

that was another thing that sealed the deal on the Quincy for me. Didn't have to pay a cent for shipping (normally it's $700+ direct from the factory). Dealer piggybacked it onto a stock/larger order plus gave me a discount on the unit itself.
Can't argue on the 447 vs. qr325 as I don't know a lot about the DV units (research stopped when the dealer snubbed me) but they sure do look like great machines. If the Husky I have in the attached garage ever dies I'll likely look a little harder at their SDI line.

Thanks for the tip! any volunteers to help me lift that big *****??

A cherry picker would be your friend. Once it's off the pallet you should be able to put the pucks under it one at a time. Just find someone you don't particularly like (I kid, I kid) to stand on the other side to keep it from getting away from you when you tip it up.

Yea, a lot of people do. Curious how much quieter they are when sitting on rubber pads..if any ?

Mine's pretty quiet, relatively speaking. I considered putting pucks or insulators under it, but never got around to it.

That Champ (gardner denver) would be quieter than my 2stage IR, in comparison. Well , it should be anyway, - even though the IR is on rubbers/+cork.

That DV looks well built GYPSY

For now im going to keep it on the pallet. . Its in an insulated room anyhow.. so no room for a cherry picker.

I travelled to Barrie from Sudbury to pick it up. . My local dealer wanted $2200 before tax.. the dealer in Barrie sold it to me for $1885 taxes in! And the bonus is I used my company truck so all I paid was time... 7 hours round trip.

It does seem like a well built unit.. the motor is a Leeson, and I dont see any "made in china" on the compressor head.. also the welding on the tank looks stellar. It also came with a mag starter ( square D) and a ball valve for the air output and water drain.

Just your run of the mill Campbell Hausfeld 6hp/60gal here. I bought it second hand and it seems to be in decent shape.

I'm about halfway through the installation and the story starts here if you're interested: Linky

In an effort to gain some usable space below, I'm getting it up off the floor and it will be enclosed in a ventilated cabinet when I'm all done.

Current status is the addition of some special valving and soon the automatic drain system:

Gauges, regulator, and hour meter will be located on a control panel down where I can reach it easier.

I will give a quick update when it's all finished.
