Does anyone have any information on this compressor? It says Air Source/Snap-On model S340V. Tank manufactured in 1991. I contacted Snap-On and they said it was manufactured by Dee-Blast and discontinued in 1998, but that was the only information they had on it. I'm mostly looking for pump info (CFM, oil capacity, model so I can find parts if needed).

Dee Blast is still doing business and have a website...did you check with them?

This is my Saylor beall 4500 compressor I got a few months back. 120 gallon vertical tank . Air cooled aftercooler included , no motor $100.00 < yes that's right. Had no motor , I got a 10hp baldor single stage for it and a new motor starter , works great . Needs a good cleaning and a few gasket replacements but it runs awesome , about 700 rpm and a LOT quieter than I would of thought given the size of this thing . Even with a head gasket leak it pumps up the tank from empty to 125 in about 4-5 minutes . It's about 51 cfm at 175psi pump at 830 rpmd298dea169a33747e91d0b7a54103828.jpg45b03d0fab1a9710203ae8ac2045a0cb.jpg32d5f9267c4c15188028f948ed7cbd58.jpge18c6cc808c82270ed433fb5587c8ee6.jpg

I would use Tractor Supply recycled rubber mat. I am sure there is a Dutch equivalent.

EDIT

Oops! I am reading this thread backwards and forgot where I was. This suggestion goes with page 110 or so.

I have a 80 gal 2 stage Quincy compressor that I'm installing. I'm going to install a regulator just after the ball valve coming off the compressor. Should I add a filter here also (regulator/filter combo) or should the filter be down stream somewhere? This regulator is just to be able to control the whole piping system fright from off the tank. Each drop I have will also have its own regulator and filter.

Yes, but just be sure it has a large enough flow rating to handle as many outlets as may be in use at the same time as you don't want to choke off the system.

I'll get in on this. I have the Husky 30 gallon that had two chicom motors go out on me. The first was a warrantee repair and the second one I was out of the warrantee period. I replaced it with a Baldor 2 HP motor run on 240V. Since it's a true 2 HP motor, it would trip the 20 amp breaker on startup with a pressurized tank on 120V.

I took off the crappy 1/4" regulator that came with the compressor and plumbed it directly into my two car garage 1/2" pipe system. Works well and keeps up with die grinders and what not because of the 100% duty cycle on that Baldor motor. Not shown is a Kobalt 8 gallon air tank mounted on the wall and plumbed into my air lines as an accumulator. This gives me a bit of extra reserve, plus I can always disconnect it and take it for a mobile air supply.

I'll run this compressor into the ground and then I'll get an 80-gallon.

I think Air Source is no longer in business but they used primarily Schulz pumps. The physical appearance of the pump in the pic looks like a Schulz. Schulz pumps are made in Brazil and they have a US sales office in the Atlanta area. Their web site has a bunch of various downloads available for different pumps showing parts breakdowns. You might have to contact them to find out which pump you have in order to get the right parts info.

The Schulz pump is likely far superior to any of the far east imports on the compressors Snap On is peddling today.

Thanks. I contacted Schulz, and it looks like it may be a MSV10SA. I discovered that the tank had a pinhole in the bottom, so I just transferred the pump to an older 60 gallon CH tank.

I've got a Baldor 7.5 single slated for my compressor. STILL haven't finished the rebuild, been atleast a year since I touched it. Sigh...

0104a361cb77460abdc94c5251e7ba0c.jpg

Picked it up from a cabinet shop that closed up. He said it had been gone through at a motor shop and hadn’t used it since then. Looked brand new.

haha, same I've got a Kellogg 452 that I started working on, then got distracted. that pump need either a 7.5 or a 10hp motor, but I'm hoping I'll have 3 phase by the time I'm ready to fire up the compressor.

Funny, I actually got a Kellogg 452tv in the same transaction as my Leroi 660a. Decided to keep the Leori and sell the Kellogg. After selling the Kellogg and the 120g tank the Leori was free. Granted only paid $200 for everything anyways. However a rebuild kit at $400 and a used LP cylinder (scored original) for $250 put a hurting on the budget.

Mine in the garage used to with incandescent bulbs. I now have all LED. Thankfully, it doesn't turn on that often and has a fairly fast recovery speed.

Made a adapter to install a two stage filter from a lawn mower engine i had sitting here. Also started building a copper cooler with a parker filter/water seperator.

This is an older US General US660 (belair 6061V) 12.83@90 single stage I got of craigslist for 200$

The thing spins the pump way fast to get that CFM and create tons of heat and water. Gonna install an aftercooler with a fan that blow over the pump to try and keep the heat down a bit.

WOW Cool pressure gauge!
Where did you find that?? !

This was another item that I purchase from work. The Manufacturer is Heise. It was only used a few times at work to calibrate a pressure switch for use on aircraft. My company purchased it new for $1,000 and I bought it from them for $15. Needless to say, it's overkill. But I mainly wanted it as a piece of wall art.

Its been a long time since I have been a frequent flyer on the GJ but maybe that will change. I figure no better place to get reacquainted than the air compressor thread.

So here is my old steed being delivered to its new home.

My wife and I moved from a house with a detached garage to a house with an attached garage and the master bedroom shares the common wall with the garage. So to reduce the chance of causing my wife sleepless nights I figured I better get something quieter than the piston compressor I had for the last 9 years.

I apologize if I have caused any compressor envy here.

Nice, I work for a gauge mfg and our high precision gauges (0.066% accuracy) are about 3x as much. For $15 though thats awesome and way more accurate than you would ever need. But if you want to use 89.5psi vs 90psi for your impact then you sure can do it.

That piece you can see is from a Bowling alley in Riverfalls WI (if I remember correctly). Its the beginning of the alley where you drop the ball and made from a very hard maple. Being the ball drop section it was beat to hell when I got it, I had to de-laminate all the pieces, squirt in gorilla glue and then clamp it back together. Once done I cut off the piece you see which is about 24" X 60, and finished it and trimmed raw edges. It was my reloading bench/office desk in the old house. I am not sure where it will end up in the new house, most likely my office computer desk.

I have one more piece left, the remnants that were cut off this section. I think its 18-20" deep, 6.5 feet long and 2.5" thick that still needs the full treatment. Not sure what I will end up doing with it. Its too shallow to be of use as a work bench and I am not much of a wood worker so who knows.

I don't really care about the accuracy as much as the size (easy to read)
So csmitty......does your company chuck any rejects in the dumpster??
You know, like ones that are only like 0.0069 accurate or 0.069 or 0.69.......
I'd be up for one of those.

I just finished my new compressor install. Definitely not top of the line but for my needs it's wayyyy better than what I had which was a HF compressor that lasted a whole lot longer than I expected. Especially with the plasma cutter, blasting, and painting. Anyhow, it's in a set up! The copper connector coming off the side is 1/2" with 1/2" Milton couplers. The regulator and condenser (also home made!) are all 1/2" except the 3 prong fitting on the end of it takes 1/4" or 3/8" connectors. The copper coming off the tank also has a 1/2" coupler for full pressure from the tank for blowing things off and stuff. b6506849b3d888198c15fa494aa897e9.jpgfe2fe20dc56f1e12ad66da6311cf3033.jpg3591ea48aa9796084ce81da72db042a5.jpg

10HP 240V single-phase? I bet all the lights dim in the entire neighborhood when that thing starts up!

Meh, 10hp 1 phase motors are common as dirt, I wire up quite a few 15 hp 1 phase motors.

The real bad ones are the 15hp airover duty motors in many grain dryers. Some are rated as high as 78 amps.

In the world of farm grain handling equipment there is a TON of big single phase motors out there. It's not uncommon for some equipment to have two 10 or 15 hp single phase motors belted together to run stuff.
