It Would Cost, Between $250 To $300 To Rebuild. I Can Buy A One From Home Depot For $450.
And It Is A Cast Iron (with Oil Lub) Not Aluminum Oil Less From Sears.

Did you look up the cost of parts? http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action?psid=26128414&sid=PSx20071217x00001a
I'm not a fan of oil less compressors they don't seem to last! Oh, don't fix it; now you have an excuse to buy a Ingersoll Rand industrial grade compressor!

Devilbiss made this for Sears, so you can call them for parts prices. I have seen this happen once before. Devilbiss will reccommend replacing both rods, not just the one.
If it were mine, I would see this as a good opportunity to get a new compressor. Not even my wife could argue about that.

I Bit The Bullet And Got A New Compressor, A "husky" From Homedepot.
Its 80 Gal. 2 Stage, Oil Lubed.
I Installed The Old 60 Gal. Tank In The Last Bay, (fed By The New One). For More Equal Distribution Of Air Pressure. And Volume.
Hope I Have Better Luck With This One.

I believe Campbell Hausfeld is the one that makes those Husky compressors. I have the 60 Gallon version and on the plate tank mounted on the tank it shows the manufacturing date and the CH's name is stamped on it as well.

Hmm, I wonder who the OEM for husky is?

Sorry, I was wondering about your "current" assessment of your decision and now that you've been using it for awhile how it worked out for you! I think most of us make our buying decisions based on the most educated guess at the time of purchase; then, there is "real world usage", once we install and use the tool. Just curios!

I Have The New Compressor About A Month, And It Works Fine. The Sound Level Is The Best Part, I Can Hear The Radio. The Bad Part; It Doesn't Come With A Power Switch,
Had To Install One. Other Than That Its Great.

A year has pasted since my "Sears" compressor beat the dust, (so much for oil less)
The new one has worked great, except for changing oil. So I added a valve, and a extension pipe, no spills.

Now if it would just stop raining!!!!

Good to hear.

The thread title reminded me of a saying "Don't lend your car or wife to your friends, because they'll throw a rod in both of them!":spit:

I see you've got a benchtop blast cabinet there. Does it keep up pretty well for sandblasting or an HVLP paint gun? I've been looking at the 80 gallon Husky and the one from Lowes as well.

WITH THE LARGE VOLUME OF AIR AVAILABLE, I CAN BEAD BLAST WITH EITHER CABINET AT 90psi.
FOR 15 MINS. BEFORE COMPRESSOR CUTS IN. WITH SMALL ITEMS I CAN WORK AND STILL HEAR THE RADIO.

By the last picture, be sure not to overload the older black supply tank. What would be worse than a thrown rod, would be a blown tank into the side of the parked Vette. I am a former owner of 64 Vette roadster, wish I still had it.

The tank is after the pressure regulator, also the pressure relief valve is still connected. Thanks for the thought.

My Frankenpressor was built using a tank from the same sears oil less. He asked if I wanted the compressor parts, it looked exactly like yours laying on the ground. I passed!
