Compressor wiring sanity check

I was gifted a brand new Puma air compressor. It came wired for 110 but clearly states it can be rewired to 240. I already have the appropriate 240 circuit in my shop so I am switching it to 240. Based on the diagrams on the compressor itself, it appears the only changes I need to make are of course the plug and the wiring inside the motor. I have attached images of the two diagrams. One for the motor and the other for the pressure switch. The motor rewiring was straightforward. The pressure switch only has one diagram however and it is labeled both 110/240. Are no changes needed to the pressure switch wiring? It appears to be a single pole switch. The black terminals in the image below are connected. Only the white side is being switched.

Currently, if I plug it in and turn it on, it immediately blows the breaker. It is on a 30amp 240 circuit and the motor is only rated 7.5amps at 240 so I see no issue there.

No attachments, but I can tell you, you won't make any changes to the pressure switch. It breaks one side of the circuit, no matter whether 120 or 240 and that is all that is needed.

You have something wired wrong, carefully double check your motor connections, and your new plug. It sounds like you have a dead short to blow the breaker like that.

Thanks Charles. I see the pictures on my post. Odd that they don't show for you.

In any case, I failed to mention that the motor also has a reset button on it. The wiring diagram doesn't shot how to wire it in and I left it as is, which could be causing the short I suppose. How are they typically wired in?

Correct, I connected 2 and 3 togethere. 1 is connected to one of the 240 hots and 4 is connected to the other. I didn't touch the reset switch. I has one leg connected to 1 and the other connected to 4.

Thanks Zeke. I am good on the motor wiring. The diagram in my picture helped with that. What I don't know is the overload reset switch wiring. It doesn't show on your diagram or my diagram. I left it how it was wired at 110, but I suspect it needs to be changed for 240.

Well, this is starting to bug me. I guess all the experts are out working. Someone will be along shortly to figure this out. In the meantime, when you say, "I didn't touch the reset switch. I has one leg connected to 1 and the other connected to 4," that seems like you've connected your 2 hots together. Take one lead off and try it.

I think you need to pull the DDM out and start chasing wires. I have no idea.

So I removed the overload reset switch completely and everything works fine. I of course need to add it back so any help on how it should be wired would be great.

Should one of the hot leads just be wired through the switch before the motor?
