So a while back while having lunch, I was talking to this guy who was eating near me. At first we started to talk about our lunch and how reasonable how the prices were, but then this gentleman introduced the topic of tools or rather creative ideas.

He mentioned how he recently bought this Klein Tools Bottle Opener (that is made 100% in USA) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00093GENU/?tag=atomicindus08-20 and how awesome this item was. I should know as I just bought this for a family member as well.

However on this Klein Tools Bottle opener, the handle reads, "Not insulated, don't use near electrical lines" and we both agreed that a CAT IV rated and naturally VDE&IEC/EN tested insulated bottle opener would be awesome, especially if made by Willi Hahn Corporation or Wera. We also agreed this should also meet other stringent safety standards as well though.

Then he mentioned that Wiha and or Wera should create a chuck-able magnetized 1000 volt rated VDE&IEC/EN tested insulated bit holder for drills. Truthfully, that sounded like a really neat idea to me as well and I agreed that would be something worth buying.

Then I mentioned the topic of Phillips precision screwdrivers, more to the point Phillips #0000. He said that Phillips #0000 is a great tool, but wouldn't this be completely awesome to create a Phillips #00000, an even smaller Phillips size.

I hastily agreed and we both had a great laugh knowing if him or I invented such a Phillips, that would be one heck of a life accomplishment.

So I figured now, why not create a thread about innovative ideas and idea's are just flat out cool.

I have made my own screwdrivers out of SO handles and other brand blades.
I had a bottle opener made out of a broken adjustable wrench.
Others on here have done similar things...bottle openers, ratchets and drivers with various branded parts.

Jeff, sounds like you've had some experience doing that. I personally would welcome the idea of Wiha or even Wera creating a CAT IV VDE&IEC/EN tested insulated bottle opener, but only time will tell if that actually happens. I would certainly buy this if it were made by Wiha brand itself, meaning made in Germany though.

Neat idea though Jeff.

All right, I'll let my imagination run wild here:

-Hydraulic pliers
-toolbox with pneumatic door opening with capacitance switch's (touch door and it whips open)
-Titanium version of EVERY tool
-Soldering iron with isolated tip so you can solder on live circuits (I actually really want this)
-Plier wrenchs that lock like vice grips (they kind of exist already, but I want Knipex ones)
-Adjustable wrench with a screw locking mechanism so the jaws cant loosen during use
-Adjustable with a map gas attachment/hose to heat up a troublesome bolt while torquing it (preferably the fancy locking style adjustable wrench)

Glad to see more people are sharing their ideas. They all sound quite cool and some really inventive as well.

I second that toolbox alarm though. My alarm is just a simple one with a plastic housing and green LED lights in it. It's not even UL listed, but this only cost $6 though.

I've been wanting a creative and somewhat absurd tool for a long time: The square-drive constant velocity joint. I've got 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" square drive Cardan type universal joints, and a 1/2" square drive swivel ball type universal joint. I'd really like a set of constant velocity joints that rotate smoothly at high deflection, unlike the Cardan type joints, but deflect past 30 degrees, unlike the swivel ball type joints. I'm not sure which type of CV joint would work best, maybe a Bendix joint? Whatever worked best, I'm sure it would be absurdly expensive, but so much fun to use, it might be worth it. Hell, put two of them together and you could probably smoothly drive a fastener with a ratchet at 90 degrees from orthogonal to the ratchet head! Also, I suspect these tools might have the unusual property of actually becoming MORE expensive as you move down in drive sizes, due to the difficulty of miniaturizing the parts far enough to build a 1/4" drive CV joint while maintaining durability and sufficient load capacity, whereas building a 1" drive CV joint would be relatively straightforward.

Double swivel impact sockets. Are these already made? If so I can't find them anymore...I recall seeing an ad a few years back. The one's that I can find are only sizes for spark plugs, why would anyone use one on a spark plug? Because they won't bind?

4.3 s10 for the rear plug behind the steering shaft. I'm sure there's others similar but that's what mine always get used for

Tools to to make sure spark plugs start in straight, you don't need to buy the specialty tool for this.Costs you nothing,a spark plug wire boot off a junk spark plug wire and vacuum hoses do the same job.

Full Throttle: Haven't you ever thought of a idea and thought man that is just flat out cool? Besides, this thread is just for fun, we would all like these ideas to be actually made, but for me at least, I am just doing this for fun.

There is insulated (and VDE&IEC/EN tested with some companies) wrenches, Robertsons, Phillips, Torx, Slotted, knives, hammers, wire cutters, pliers, nut drivers, tweezers, terminal block, hex key and even hack saws that are CAT IV rated, so an CAT IV rated insulated bottle opener isn't that far off to a certain extent.
