Seriously Cool Garage Floor

First off I want to apologize that my first post is about one of the coolest garages we have ever been hired to create but we want to share this garage with everyone.

The 30 x 30 garage was custom built for daily usage. Once formed, 2 lifts were added for the customers 2 classic cars.

We intricately etched the floor with 5 custom, antiqued logos. We still have blue chips to add, a little cleaning, custom sealer, Hercke cabinets, Flowwall, and Swisstrax flooring for extreme protection.

What do you guys think?

wow. that's real nice

Thank you. We will be taking professional photos when we wrap up this project over the next few days.

The logos were such a pain, all hand etched and painted. The floor will look incredible once his two restored cars are placed on the lifts. :)

I can appreciate the work that went into creating this but it is all lost on me with that red border. It looks like someone just poured some red chips out of the bag as they walked along. I will reserve final judgement till I see the finished project. Right now it looks like something I would do.

As for your title may I suggest that you look at some of the floors in this forum posted in the flooring section, It might temper your idea of what the "Coolest garage Floor" is.

I'm guessing the big pile of red will just turn into a darker line. From the initial pics, these guys know what they are doing and don't mess around!

That's a cool looking floor.

So, the owner is gonna hang a couple of resto's on two post lifts for storage? Not a lot of guys like that from what I know. Hanging weight off the suspension for long term. Don't know if there's any validity to it, but you hear opinions.

The concrete and logos look amazing but that red path of flakes has me lost. The whole floor looks so precise and smooth and the red chips just seem to contrast that. If it were me I would just stick with the sealed concrete and pass on the flakes

Include me in with being a little lost also. The red chips look like fringe on a rug. No doubt it is going to be great looking, so I want to see the finished product.

And along with that, hopefully you will post up the finished pics, and I also want to say WELCOME TO GARAGE JOURNAL. You may want to make a proper introduction in the flooring section and join the ranks of the other flooring companies that hang in there to help out the unknowing in the floor world.

Post pictures when you're done. I'm sure it will clean up a bit, but you can see what we see; looks like you walked with a spray paint can and tried to eyeball the line loosely. Kudos for the hard work regardless!

Lol, you guys crack me up! The red line is loose chips that had not been cleaned out as we have to be very delicate to prevent any chips from cross contaminating the other lines.

Today we locked in the existing chips and logos. This floor still has 3 days worth of work and yes will be absolutely badass!

As far as the title, I will let the final images of the floor justify itself. The Swisstrax are being used just underneath the cars as a mat and no the cars won't be left on the lift, the lift is just for the customer to work on the cars.

That makes more sense. Curious to see the finished product.

I would think the kind of person that would want that high quality of a floor would see past the cheesecake IMO.

Nekked models make everything better:D Pics like that across the front page of a website probably not a class idea but compiled into a calendar ? that you give out to contractors or at shows would be cool. I'll reserve my opinion of the floor till I see the garage "ornaments".

Get some pictures with the model (for the customer) and some without (for you). If you are using the shots for advertising, I would suggest that the pin up calendar days have past and your product shoud stand for itself.

It may be nice with a skimpy model or two, but they would have to have the right car and be dressed right to pull it off. They would have to look like a "pinup" model. Anything more than that, and you may just be cutting your own throat. And with that, it would or should have some black and white photos. But seeing that you are wanting to showcase the floor and logos, I think I would forget the girls if you are trying to push the product with pictures.

If the owner has some old cars, and you want to show a greasy girl holding a blowtorch, then you may possibly pull it off. But if this is a new business starting up, you need to keep things PG and showcase the floor only.

That's just my $.02 on things. I can be a horndog like most others, but from a business aspect, you'll make more money in a PG atmosphere. You'd more than likely sell more products using a couple of small children on tricycles than you would with a scantily clad woman.

Yes the owner has 2 really cool old cars and no we have been in business several years, but have lately been overwhelmed with garage makeovers. (Im not complaining, just shocked at the latest trend in our area)

I'm always happy to see people take pride in their work. Not the kind of floor I'd go for, but hey, as long as the owner's happy you guys did good!

Slowly getting there... Will post more photos Monday. We just finished cleaning the blue chips and installing the cabinets, but still have an extra coat of protection and swisstrax to apply.

Okay guys, we are nearing the finish line. Just need to cut two of the Swisstrax pieces and clean up the blue flakes a tad bit more. But here you go...

Ok, that's better. I couldn't tell in your initial post that they were pictures of it in progress. That's not really my style, but I can certainly appreciate the amount of work that went into it.

This^^^^. If I was shopping, I would give less consideration to a company with pin-up shots.

Yeah, the floor is nice. Not my style, but if the customer likes it all is good. There certainly is some fine workmanship there.

The poor guy needs to do something with the walls. Those insulation bats collect dirt, get torn, and generally look shabby pretty quick.

Great post. Interesting stuff.

To the OP, would you care to run through the procedure and detail (within reason) how each stage was applied?

Not asking you to put yourself out of business, but some info for curious minds would be awesome.
