Corded Work Light

I am in the market for a new corded work light. I have done a bunch of searching on the site and most of the threads on corded work lights are a few years old and many of the links do not work manly due to products changing i guess.

I have a number of flash lights that work great but for bigger jobs I find I am spending a ton of money on AA and D cell batteries. I have tried a few LED lights but I find the light to be very focused and not very good for under car work.

I am trying to stay away from rechargeable work lights as my fear is after 6 month or a year the internal battery will start to die.

I have looked at a few rechargeable lights and since I have a bunch of M12 and M18 batteries I was thinking about either the M18 LED stick light or the M18 Lantern/Flood light. Not sure which would be better for under car work and again not sure if LED will give you the best light for working.

I have been mainly focusing on corded work lights however I noticed that Snap on has really reduced the number of corded work lights they offer. For whatever reason the Canadian site has many more options which are not listed on the US website. I found a few threads which talked about National Electric making the lights for Snap on but I cannot find very many Canadian dealers which sell National Electric products. Even amazon shows a lot of the products as not available.

Anyways, below are a few lights I have been considering and just looking for some others options:

Snap on (ECU325BK)
http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P65=&tool=all&item_ID=641116&group_ID=675948&store=canada&dir=catalog

Snap on (ECU415BK)
http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P65=&tool=all&item_ID=641114&group_ID=675949&store=canada&dir=catalog

Mac Tools (TLF98220)
http://www.mactools.ca/en-ca/Lighting/Corded/TLF98220/Professional-18W-Angle-Light-with-1-Cord

Something from National Electric (model TBD)

Something from Bayco (model TBD)

Bayco has the best pricing but I am not sure if their quality is there as I have not used one of there lights before. I was hoping that going with a tool truck light the quality might be better and I am ok with paying a little more for the name if it is a good light.

Yeah i know how you feel as my light just died and looking for a corded light is painful since everything is going cordless but i don't want that.

We are only supposed to buy led lights at work and the ones i've found don't impress me and with little reviews its hard to pull the trigger on anything.

I actually have both the lights on the left and the right but I find they are not great for interior work as I am afraid with the metal hooks I will scratch the leather on the seats or something.

I found a replacement LED light for my reeled corded light at a Sears store in Winston Salem. I removed the light reflector and wire cage. One of my best tool finds as the light is incredibly bright, doesn't get hot is about 1 in thick by 6 inches long and gets into tight spaces. It was sold at Sears but not a Craftsman product. I found a second one at my local Sears here in MD. but not always in stock.

i havent done this myself - casue i went with a cordless led lithium from capri tools, and im very happy with the amount of light it throws and the pattern. (this is just for home/ project use as im not a mechanic) its very even and dispursed - so no light/dim spots, and for $40 i honestly dont think you can find a better cordless (and this one does work with a dead battery while plugged in) last at least 3 or 4 hours.

BUT - if you want something simple and cheap - i would just find the cheapest plastic drop light, and buy a pack of led bulbs from costco to throw in it..

i was playing with the m12 stick light in the store - great little light if you have the batteries. there is a post from someone in the milwaukee addiction thread that posted pics comparing the light output of all the different m12/ m18 lights.

here is the $40 capri tools light.. cant say enough good things about this, watch the videos on youtube for reviews.

I made a thread a while back asking about this and everyone said it wasn't super. The lumen count was low as well.
