I just bought this compressor, it was manufacture in 1958, the hours used meter on it says 0.3 looks brand new. My problem is there is no wiring diagram for it. It seems as if the initial power supply is supposed to be DC but the motor tag says 200 volts, 3 phase. I'm lost any ideas anyone? Thanks

I don't see anything on the tag about DC power, but it does say 200 volts three phase Wye connection. It also says something at the bottom of the tag about 400 Hz, which makes sense since the top of the tag mentions aircraft use.

I'm afraid it's an expensive paperweight...I think the only way you can use it at home is if you can somehow adapt a different motor to the compressor.

Cornelius made compressors for use in military aircraft. Does the

data plate reflect that it may have been govt related ?

I once had a small 3 stage compressor that was 24 VDC that I

used to fill scuba tanks. Just throwing in some perhaps useless

info, but most aircraft generators were set for 400 cycle. Some

may have been 3 phase, depending on aircraft type.

Uncle Bob

edit: I googled the brand and model and got some interesting

hits. Suggest you do the same.

3,000 PSI! If you could adapt a single phase motor to it I bet it would sell quckly to scuba divers.

This unit is driven by a 400hz, 3phas, 200v aircraft ac motor, the DC part 27vdc is for drain control use. You can refer to the eBay item Number : 281063791710.

If you want to keep the thing, you could get a military generator that is 400 Hz to power it.

Lots of 400 Hz generators are sold on www.govliquidation.com

With the two, you'd have a "paper weight" to run your "paper weight" !! :D

There is a yahoo group for guys that convert those Cornelius and walter kidde military compressors for use filling scuba tanks. What do you plan on doing with a 3000 psi compressor?
