Hi i was at a yard sale today and picked up a box of random tools for 7 dollars. I got a ratchet that really interested me. Its a push through cornwell ratchet i dont see any model markings on it. It seems to miss a few teeth. I was wondering if i could rebuild it? Ive always liked the push through design on the old ratchets. Any info is greatly appreciated! I havent even heard of cornwell before today! Pictures below! it is 1/2 drive

Thank you for the model! Is there anyway to rebuild these? Do you think it would be worth anything to collectors being it kinds of skips teeth or not? I dont really have a use for it.

There isn’t a way to rebuild as they aren’t meant to come apart. There aren’t any teeth in a gearless ratchet. I’m not sure how it works, maybe a rollers and spring mechanism. Might try soaking in some clean ATF (automatic transmission fluid) for a while. That could clean the inside and lube the parts.

Cornwell stuff doesn’t go for very much really. Cool ratchet though.

Here's the internals of a Kobalt gearless rat for comparative purposes.

Interesting design its to bad there's no way of taking this one apart. Not sure what to do with this one.

Looks like a pressed-in collar on the one side, so, not made to be disassemble-able. Just soak it in 50/50 acetone/ATF for a week and see if it frees up. I don't suspect you're going to put it in the work rotation though.

I'd just drop it in a bucket of carb cleaner or Kroil, and see if it loosens up.
