Ok. I used the search function for this one. Came up with the Cornwell tools **** thread. Not a bad thing, but not exactly what I am looking for.

I am sort of putting together a wish-list of sorts out of the catalog, because I effing can. Lol. Managed to chase down a dealer, close enough to me (couple towns over). The only truck that comes by my place of work is the Snappy truck, and he only comes by on day shift (I'm swing). While I like Snap On... I like all the truck brands, and for slightly different reasons. I also like plenty of non-truck brand stuff... because quality is quality.

I juuuust grabbed a Cornwell JR40H...long handle 3/8 drive with comfort handle. I *really* like it. Feels good. Chrome is nice. The action is great. For a non-rotohead, it's pretty bomb.

I have an affinity for longer handles (because leverage is my friend), and handles. Both my Snap On ratchets have comfort handles (both rotoheads), and so does my Bahco. After getting used to them, I really don't like not having them.

One ratchet that made my "wants list" is the TR4H, as this thread says. It's a long pattern, comfort handle, 1/4 drive. A bit over 9" long. Standard 30 tooth. If the action on it is as smooth as the JR40H, this seems like it would be a nice addition to the 1/4 arsenal.

Anyone have one? Any draw backs to it? The 3/8 ratchet is smooth, with what feels like low back-drag. I imagine that the finer tooth versions would have less. The older style coarse tooth stuff tends to be tough as nails though. I also have finer tooth ratchets in the box. Feedback, experiences, and opinions? I have more or less sold myself on it... why, or why shouldn't I snag one?

I have the TR4 hard handle. I lube mine with Klotz Assembly lube and it has little to no back drag.

I've been using different cornwell ratchets for a year or so now. I traded all my fine tooth cornwell ratchets in on the 30 tooth versions. I had problems with the chrome chipping on the edges of the fine ratchets and the selector switches flipping back and forth when ratcheting. Now I have all 30 tooth cornwell stuff and love it. And the long 1/4" non flex head is a good one to have.

I think I have all the configurations of the coarse tooth cornwell ratchets. That are all great ratchets. I just use wheel bearing grease in them. I had a 72 toother once but I t would always bind up so I sold it.

Edit* now that I'm thinking about it I don't think I have a 1/4 flex. Oh no.

I have the flex head tr4h. It's my favorite 1/"4" ratchet . Also check out the tr42. 3/8 in a 1/4 body. I use it all the time. I also have a jr72 and have no chrome issues. It is my understanding that the ratchets body is the same as all others and the internals are imported.

I have both a JR40 and TR4H and both are great. I lube mine with superlube but have used permatex ultra in the past as well. Both work fine. The TR4H is low back drag in my opinion.

Look at the flex heads too. Even though they are not fine tooth it doesn't matter. They are still awesome. And strong as hell. I used my JR40 once to break loose lug nuts. Took the abuse and smiled and asked for more. Try the fine tooth ones too. I want to buy more than the JR72 I have. Also their Witte made screwdrivers are fantastic. I have a set and love them. The best tips I have ever used .
