Corrugated metal ceiling outlets.

What is the easiest way without running pvc across the ceiling to cut my outlets out in ny new garage ceiling. I do not have the outlets in quit yet just the wire hanging. I still need to wire my outlets up and get the metal up. I have a couple for the openers and a couple for the lights as well as a 240. Thanks

And I wouldn’t use PVC conduit. Over time it sags and looks bad. Go with EMT. As a bonus, you save running a ground wire.

Sounds like you are not wanting any conduit at all, you are wanting the receptacles recessed. If you are planning on putting the boxes up and putting the metal over it, it would be just like a open wall before drywalling. Use plastic nail on boxes and cut the metal out with a jig saw with a metal blade before installing it. You could use a grinder with a thin wheel to do most of it and the jig saw to get the corners. Post some pictures if you can.

This but surface mounted metal boxes with emt might look pretty cool if the corrugated is also silver.
On the other hand I could also see myself painting the boxes/emt in a if you can not hide it show it way.

Yeah, but i think the issue is that he doesn't know yet where the high ribs will be.

I left enough slack to adjust on the fly, but decided better to surface mount the boxes with the wiring behind.

Even if you use Romex behind the metal I still recommended surface mounted metal boxes. Way easier than cutting square holes and usually looks better too.

I agree, im confused on when he said cutting out the ceiling. Surface mount would be easier.

Just make sure the boxes end up on the flat spot on the metal.

If you are planning on wanting the boxes recessed, i would suggest an adjustable plastic box, then you can bring the box out to the finish metal.

Flush mount doesn't look as good as you might think. I guess it's just my opinion but I have never seen outlets flush mounted in tin that "looked nice"

The cleanest way I have seen of mounting receptacles in corrugated is to use a 4-square metal box to bring your wiring in and a flush single gang mud ring. Set the mud ring flush with the back side of the corrugated metal, then cover that with a piece of flat metal that is roughly 10.5" x 8.5" with a hole centered for the interior section of the mud ring. Generally you want to make the hole 3/16" larger in all dimensions around the interior opening of the mud ring. Trim the flat metal with J-metal to cover the corrugations and rivet or screw the J-metal. You will want to have a minimum interior dimension between J-metal of 6.5" x 4.5" to allow for an oversized cover plate or in-use cover.

There is no flat spot on corrugated metal.

That begs the question though, is it truly corrugated or is this a raised rib type of panel?
