Bought my second one today!
Too good of a deal to pass up. Extra jack will make lifting the car a lot easier until I get a lift one of these days. Going to use cross beam adapters on them to get my vette up for work requiring the wheels to be off.
I have had my other one for 2 years now, still works flawlessly.

you guys are crazy... i'm so envious... i want to get this, but I already have 2 floor jacks that are still working. I'm so tempted though... I've thought about selling my cheapo craftsman 3ton to put money towards this one.

2. I have to lift my jack fairly often - to get it from shop to garage, to take it out to the curb, to take it too a buds place....and 100lbs is HEAVY!

Then this isn't the jack for you.

3. I wouldn't want a jack with a fixed pad. I switch between rubber pad, a metal one and also have a door holding dolly I made that fits the hole.

It's not "fixed". It comes off.

4. Has anyone mentioned putting a roll-bar pad or pool-noodle on the handle to protect your car? Essential!

It's got one.

5. Someone mentioned that this jack swaed when lifting something heavy....that'd scare me!! I've NEVE Rseen m Craftsman jack flex - even under Duramax Diesels!

Someone lied.

I've joined the Arcan club... $104.99 @ Costco. This one is a 3 1/4 ton though, looks the same. Must say my garage is running out of space, this jack is HUGE!

Have same jack parked next to my older 3.5 ton and can't see one difference other than the labeling. They are awesome for the money and work great under my low cars.

Notice how mine doesn't sit level, how the other wheels have paint rubbed off from rolling around but the right (looking straight on) barely does. when i use it to lift up a vehicle it will flatten out and all 4 wheels will touch the cement. Ive just been to lazy to return for another...you guys think its a big deal, should i just keep it?

I have a 10 year old, non low profile Arcan that is the same way with 3 wheels in contact till it lifts a load. It's never bothered me, heck, I think it may make it easier to maneuver around.

Mine is the same way. 1 wheel is doesn't roll with the others during movement. Doesn't affect the lifting process though.

use some washers on the caster in the opposite corner to level it out.

Anyone have any issues where this jack does not want to hold weight? It will jack up perfectly, but then slowly bleeds down. Any thoughts. I'm at 5,280 elevation if that might matter.

mine did that after 2 years. returned it for a full refund no questions asked. god bless the Costco return policy.

I'm seriously thinking about buying another one, if I can't fix my walker.

Sounds good. The one that is leaking is my brother's that I bought for him at Costco. Mine is doing great. If I cannot fix it, then I will just take it back.

Thank you,
Beowulf

You guys cost me $226.25 !! Just got two. They are awesome. What a difference lifting my truck compared to my 30year old CRAFTSMAN. The color goes good with my HARBOR FREIGHT red tool boxes and 5 drawer cart. Plus they fit underneath them too. :D

I got one this weekend. It replaced my 3 ton Huskey trolley jack with a 20" handle. That Husky was a fine jack when I owned a car, but not much fun with a Dodge 2500.

The Costco Arcan lifts with relative ease, and it lowers slowly. A very nice jack for a homeowner.

that was my main reason to get rid of the craftsman one I had... when it came down, it would just drop really fast. i've tried various ways of trying to control the release, but i don't think it was designed that way. i haven't tried the Arcan just yet, but my other AL Arcan releases very nice and slow too so I'm confident it's good. (and I can always take it back to costco if it gives me any problems)

You will not be disappointed :)

Same boat here...the pos Cman 3 ton has zero drop control. turning the handle 1.5 degrees and BOOM, your car is on the ground.

The Arcan is VERY controllable. Actually took a few tries to get rid of the nervousness when lowering.

I notice the differences between the Arcan and my dad's 1960's era Montgomery Ward's jack or my friend's Hein Warner. For example, there's a cheesy looking u-joint that connects the drive between the handle and jack cylinder...it's not like my dad's or the Hein Warner, which has two inter-meshing gears.

But I didn't pay $450 for it either. It'll serve me well for the ten times a year that I'll use it. I recommend it for the price and availability, as I was growing tired of searching Craigslist for a used American jack.

Agreed. Nice drop control on my Arcan. It also pumps when the handle is near parallel with the floor. Very important when trying to reach far under a low vehicle.

Big toe, loss. Ouch! I knew a guy's brother who was killed while working under his truck. He used a floor jack, but not sure which floor jack. I use to have a sear's professional floor jack I used many years ago. It was great. I worked on big trucks with it. But I no longer have it. I need a new jack, so I'm gonna check sears out. I like the low profile of the Arcan jack. But not sure if I would trust it!

well... the guy's brother shouldn't have been under the car with just a floor jack; should have used appropriate jack stands. personally, i will even sometimes put an extra set of "backup" jack stands under the car... i figure if a earthquake hits and shakes the car off the stands it can fall another 1" onto another set, hopefully giving me enough time to get out before i get badly hurt.

not sure why you would check out sears if you're not sure you can trust this one @ costco? is it because this is made in China? if so, you'll be disappointed to know all the floor jacks at Sears are also made in China. if that's not it, I wouldn't understand why you would trust Sears over Costco? Between the two, I would go with Costco... I think they'll be around long enough until the day I might need to return it if that happens... Sears; well, who knows what's going to happen with them or how long they'll be around... they haven't had a profitable year in about 10 years and selling off assets for cash can only go so far.

Well, i guess an obligatory picture is in order here... my new "red" steel Arcan 3.25T next to my "blue" Arcan 3.0T Aluminum floor jack that I also got at Costco a few years earlier. By the way, at my Costco they raised the price of this jack to $104.99!!! I shoulda done it earlier because it was still $99.99 just a couple of weeks earlier.

Bump! Thinking about purchasing one. My craftsman 2 1/4 ton doesn't lift my car enough. Car is also lowered on coilovers and have to go on 2x4's with the craftsman. Hopefully the low profile will work.

One issue is that I live in an apartment and I would need to take the Jack and carry it out to the parking lot. (Almost a blocks length) Do any of you successful move the jack around? I was thinking about buying a bag with wheels and wheeling it around?

Would also love to hear new updates and the longevity of this jack!

depends on what "move it around" means.. .if you're on the 1st floor and you can more or less just drag it out on its wheels, then probably not a problem. but, if there are steps/stairs involved along the way to the parking, then this 100lbs floor jack is going to be a pain in the rear. Costco use to have a 3-ton Arcan AL floor jack, and that is much more manageable for carrying around, still about 50lbs heavy though... i have both, and I can tell you that the AL one is soooo much easier to carry around if needed.

I have a storage room in the basement with a ramp so no stairs whatsoever. I was thinking about something like this :

WTA9716.jpg

I would want it to open from the front though so I don't have to pick it up to take it out or put it in.

then maybe it will work... just so long as you know this is heavy... unless you're a body builder and picking up 100lbs is as easy as taking a leak...

just buy harbor freight aluminum jack, it will make your life so much easier.

I try to stay away from HF for expensive things such as these but then again I haven't had a failed item from HF yet. I'll be using the Jack maybe 5-10 times a year. The 3 ton Aluminum Jack from HF is about $200, almost double the price of the Arcon. I'm sure the Arcon is a much better Jack too. I can always just roll the jack to the parking lot but I don't want to make too much noise or look "weird". haha

Regardless, I'll look up reviews for the 3 ton HF Aluminum Jack.

I do sometimes work at my girlfriends or friends house. I've had this craftsman 2 1/4 for a few years but I'm always wanting another 2-3" of extra clearance when I'm under the car. I'll go to Costco this weekend and see how it feels. Hopefully, I can find some sort of transportation/storage solution for this thing.

Not sure how low that HF aluminum model is. The Arcan, which I bought several months back, is just what I needed for my lowered Mustang. It also lifts my old '69 Chevy truck high up in the air. The Arcan seems to be good quality so far. Glad I bought it after reading these threads.

I can't roll my Arcan since where I work on my cars there is only grave/dirt. With uneven ground, the jack still works great to get all 3 of my fairly light cars up. The thing is HEAVY though. It stays planted on the dirt better than other jacks I've had that want to move around under the same loads.

The Arcan is not what you want to carry a block's length, but it is a good enough jack to make up for it if you can to roll it to your car.

Well now I know what I'm getting for X-mas this year :)

Today while lowering my project truck my aluminum craftsman gave way and blew out the bleeder valve spraying fluid all over my freshly finished engine which is was all new and spotless. Guess I should just be happy the crapsman lasted me for the 9 years it did and that nothing got damaged and nobody injured.

Two and a half years after buying mine, I'm still loving the thing. FANTASTIC jack.

And while the price has gone up, it's only gone up ten bucks since I bought mine. That's not bad at all.

Anyone sitting on the fence should hop off and buy one of these before some buyer at Costco gets a wild hair up their **** and decides to stop carrying them.
