I have had mine in for 2 years now, I have 11 in my garage and I think 10 in my basement and I have not had a single issue with any one of them.

What do you mean by 'zoning'? I was just doing to do them in rows, or sets. I was maybe going to do 4 rows of 5 (or 5 rows of 4, whatever), spaced evenly throughout the space. I have workbenches and such, but I really just need even light everywhere, I don't have set places to work on things, it constantly changes based on the project. I also do a lot of filming out there, so I need good light everywhere.
You may not want them all on at once, and being you can only gang 4 together, you could have every other row (across the short way, so 3-4 long?) on/off at a time. Or leave them all on and have it bright everywhere, all the time :rocker:

My local Costco was out in two days according to what the manager told me today...

Ask them when they'll receive more. I went in on Thursday, 12/1, and they had sold out the day prior, but told me they were receiving another 380 of them the following day, which is when I got my first batch.

They were out of them by Sunday morning, 12/4, but received another batch that they put out on Tuesday, 12/6.

I'd expect that batch to be gone sometime today, given the looks of things yesterday...

With the sale going until 12/24, I'd expect most warehouses to be restocking pretty constantly/consistently.

Has anyone tried a dimmer on these lights?

FYI, I hooked a lamp dimmer up to them (something like this) and it didn't work. Well, they flickered and sometimes I could get them a bit dimmer by fiddling with it a bit. But yeah, they're not technically dimmable. I've heard elsewhere of people saying they ARE, but they're certainly not.

Thanks for trying out the dimmer.

Ah OK. That's what I was planning. Ideally, if I could control each one with an app, that would be great, but that's not going to happen. I'll most likely do a line of outlets near the middle of the garage, and gang them out from there. SO, a row of 4 duplex receptacles in the middle of the garage. 3 on one side, 2 on the other. Since they have the pull chains, I can always just turn on and off the ones I want. I do most of my work in the 2-car garage side, so I can just turn the others off, etc. I MIGHT get one of those fancy 'smart' wifi receptacles, which would allow me to do this remotely with a phone, but we'll see. Thanks!

These work well for a cheaper lower tech option. Only issue would be if you are daisy chaining the LEDs then if you turn off one light, you will turn all the lights off behind it.

That's actually not too bad. For $30, it might be worth a shot, it at least saves me from getting up an a step stool or ladder to turn on and off lights... I could separate the garage down 2/3, with 12 of the lights on one side (where I primarily work) and the other 8 on the opposite side. I could turn off rows pretty easily.

I bought 14 of these over a year ago for my garage. They get used often, and are still working great. I just ordered another 6 of them, 4 for my basement and 2 for my shed.

Here is the pic from the night I installed them. It was in the middle of my finishing off my garage, so excuse the mess. My only regret is the way I mounted them.... I should have installed them perpendicular to the bays. Oh well, live and learn.

Why would you mount them perpendicular to the bays?

Forgive me if this was answered already but I didn't see it. If you daisy chain 4 of them in a row do the pull chains turn off each light independently or does turning one light off then turn the power off to the other lights which are downstream of it?

I went to Costco here in Calgary today and they don't have these lights :(

Just get them online, it's the same price and if you have a costco account, you can use that at checkout and the only difference is shipping.

I think I could get the spacing more consistent. Right now, they are very close to each other end to end, but far apart in the other axis. If I had placed them in the other direction, I could have evened the spacing out better along both axis.

Thanks. I was planning on doing exactly what you did but at 5 ft apart, but after your reply I mounted mine perpendicular. I'm happy with the light output and how it illuminates my garage. I have 3 lights per bay centered side to side in 3 car garage and the lighting is very even and bright. First light is about 36" from the back wall, next is about 6ft away and the last one is 6ft from the second.

Add me to the list

I don't have a Costco membership, but I had my wife ask her friends to get me ten, and they bought them this past weekend.

I was debating what to do for lighting in my 26(w) x 46(l) x 12(h) garage, but now I know what I'm doing. I'm looking forward to getting some real light in there and ditching the fluorescent light and mixture of odd A19 LED bulbs that I currently have. Not looking forward to getting up to the ceiling to mount them though!

Thanks for posting this deal!

=============

Update: Got the lights and tested a few. Wow! These are really nice and I'm looking forward to getting them up. Thanks again for this post!

Building a garage and I bought 8 of these. Thinking I shouldve bought 10...

Currently have a 24x25 garage with two 8' T8 lights. When I held the 4' LED light next to the 8' lights it appeared that it was putting off more light but my 8' lights are ~4years old... Im putting 8 in a 30x34 garage, hopefully it'll be enough! My current 8' lights are not quite enough.

I'd double it for that SF. I have 9 up in a ~21*21 and I am putting another 4 up - and thinking I should put up another 8. Hopefully painting the drywall (way down the road :() will fix that for me.

I'm surprised that the Feit lights are working out so well. I always found their incandescent lights to be very dim for the stated wattage and burned out in a few months. Sylvanias, by comparison, seemed to last forever.

I write the date installed on the base of the bulb, so it's not just selective memory.

My Costco finally had some in stock, but it was like a Black Friday sale when I showed up lol. At least I was able to get what I needed.

Thanks OP

Awesome, I'm glad my feedback was of some use, and that you are happy with how it turned out.

If these are not enough Ill buy some more at a later date. Probably never be on sale again though.... Hard to keep doing everything 'the best' when you're building a garage on a budget...

Someday Ill have white metal up, that should help.

Just bought a couple and installed them, they really are awesome.

Bright, cheap, easy to install and silent.

I have been running 5 in my 10x20 workspace since last December. No problems whatsoever. Plenty of light for my 68 year old eyes.

They do go on sale a few times a year (at least they did ~3 times last year, at $24.99)

Couldn't help myself and picked up 2 last night at Costco. I wanted ~6 to replace all the lighting in my garage but with all of the holiday expenses I figured I shouldn't be spending $ on stuff like this. So I figure I can add these 2 to the existing lights for now.

Just to offer another alternative (which is admittedly more money), BJ's Wholesale and Sam's club sell a Lights of America fixture that a bit brighter and less yellow for about $35 ea. Specs are 40w, 4500 lumens, 5000K. After hooking one up tonight and comparing to my Costco fixtures, I want to move the Costco units to shelving and storage areas in the basement and put these units in the "work and task areas". Rockler sells this same unit for $50 on sale, so the price at the local wholesale clubs is pretty good.

my opinion on that, acknowledging you didn't ask, I'd rather have the lighting consistent if possible over all areas of a given room, excepting windows of course. if you want to move them all to another room that's a different story but i've worked places where there's really inconsistent lighting like that and it *****.

I would agree with you, but that means throwing out the units I already paid for which I just can't bring myself to do. There isn't anywhere else I can put them. :( That's part of the reason for my post, to save someone else from buying and re-buying. It's a big difference in price if you're talking about 10+ fixtures, but it's justified in my view.
