Yes it is. I could see it at some type of place that sells tools, but when it is in an aisle next to mattresses, refridgerators, and groceries it doesnt seem right. Although, I have never been on the tool truck when they gave lamb, fish, ham, and other free samples like at Costco today :)

I also saw all of that last week at my store as well. The only thing I did not see at your store was the Snap On Bar Stool.

I may still buy one. I thought they were pretty decent.

if it increases the bottom line, that's what makes the shareholders happy...........and the execs keep their jobs...........much like the lowly common worker having to make concessions, so to must the upper echelons of industry to appease their masters, so import junk rebranding.........and the uninformed feels better about buying a quality name brand............

You can also see the prices above the items, the drop lights were 39.99. They were actually nice droplights.

Welcome to "brand equity". Honestly, this stuff will not tarnish their reputation. Even if the more complex stuff has issues like the pressure washers, it won't affect the brand. But it will help the company make more $$$, which *might* help the bottom line enough to keep mfg over here. I'll admit, that's a stretch but probably somewhat true.

I was in Costco the other day and saw folks all over those flashlights. Everthing I saw branded S.O. looked to be decent quality. Not top...but good enough for it's intended consumer.

I got one of those exact "snap on" flashlights as a gift, and my dad got one for himself. They were both terrible. The light bulb would flicker or turn off on both of them whenever you move the flashlight around. The light inside is weak, and the shape of the reflector leads to poor lighting ability!

I wonder if Costco will be carrying those special "cordless" drop lights that Stuety has written about. You know, the kind that don't include a freaking cord! :wtf:

Bull, I think the item in picture 4 is the "cordless" drop light that includes a cord reel. Someone must have realized their error.

The way I look at it, the companies that made these items paid something to SnapOn for the privilege, as I believe they're just 'licensed products.' So either it's priced higher than the same quality item elsewhere, or it's a lower quality item that's increased in "value" by slapping on the SnapOn trademark. Neither of which is a good thing. The value of the SnapOn brand should be the quality product, warranty, service, etc., not the branding nameplate.
