I noticed this toolbox locally at costco, I was wondering if anyone had any feedback on it?

I also would like to know how it compares to the Harbor Freight 13 drawer roller.

They shouldn't have ruined it with that dumb little cabinet on the side. Should've made the long drawers 56". Then it would be an awesome buy.

How deep are the drawers?

I have the old Costco box and love it. Since they have one open give it a good shake and see what happens. The price is hard to beat. He'll it's Costco if you don't like it after a few weeks you can take it back.

Looks like deal to me, the side cabinet is good for scanner or tools in plastic cases, I don't see it as ruining the box...?

Since the box has an overall length of 72" they could have picked a MUCH better drawer layout to make it comparable to the larger and more expensive boxes. The cabinet could have been an add on.

They had a lot of potential with that one but ruined it. Either way it's still a lot of space for the money.

It might just be me, but those casters look a little on the small side...but they could be replaced.

Our Costco have a 2 bank one for $399, same with a butcher's block top. At first glance, it looks like the HF 13 drawer box.

The drawer layout isn't that bad but it definitely isn't the best. It needs more drawers and hopefully this isn't an 18" depth box. If so I'd disapprove. For something this big it needs to be deep.

Everything has to be built a lot stronger to support a 56" drawer that's going to be filled with tools. That would push the cost well beyond this price point.

It is in Costco here in Kingston, ON and it was also in Halifax, NS when I was back for holidays. I noticed it wasn't listed on their website but it seems like it is a nice box, just not sure if it would be enough drawer space for me. I am kind of leaning towards the HF box with additional add-ons.

I see two problems . 1.the picture makes it look like its only 18" deep . 2. I have never seen a 72" that didnt have 3 sets of casters on it ( one in the center ) .

Yeah I was kind of iffy on the casters myself, with the chest fully loaded I am not sure how well they would hold up, it is an easy fix, but it makes me question the box quality.

No sign of it in Southern California. I would look one over if it was there.
Lord knows I don't need anymore boxes but I do enjoy looking at them.

I saw a similar one at Costco, but it only came in red. If I needed a tool box, I would get one of these without question, it's a screaming bargain. I'd say it's better than Craftsman (thicker metal) and better fit and finish than the Harbor Freight ones.

It's obviously not a Snap On, but the sales tax alone on a new Snap On box this size would be more than the purchase price of the Costco one.

It isn't listed on costco.com, so no dimensions available anywhere.
I haven't been to my local Costco to check yet, but they hardly ever have the tool boxes at all.

No Costcos in southern IL. Sams Club has this box or one extremely close at least and a few different versions as well as benches from time to time on their website. they are never offered at the Sam's in my zip code, but always between $350 and $600 online depending on what they offer.

Looks like a smokin' hot deal to me. Only $30 more than their steel 56 inch version, and this one is stainless.
Strange it does not have a third set of casters. The 56 inch version has three sets.

The lack of a long drawer is not an issue for me, as I have been living with 26" wide boxes so far, and my tools are either home carpentry, or bicycle oriented. My truing stand would look great on that top.

I was just about ready to pull the trigger on the 56 inch version. I am going to hold up, hopefully this one will make its way to the US soon!!

I went out to Costco again today, but I forgot my tape measure! However just by eyeballing it, it looks to be 20" deep.

Costco used to have some really nice large toolboxes. I know a motorcycle guy who opened his own shop and bought one to save money. He said it was better than the Matco box he used to use. If i recall, it was 56", 20ish drawers and only $800. It was a top and bottom box. Forget who the maker was, some acronym. I don't think they sell them anymore.

Anyways, I wouldn't be afraid to go Costco if you like the box but I think the Harbor Freight box is the better deal when you consider coupons and the add-ons.

So is that a US or Canada item? Price in Canada can't be that!!

Canada box, I saw it in Kingston, ON and Halifax, NS. They also had a new black top and bottom in today, cannot remember the brand name for the life of me but it was only 579, the quality seems pretty good on these but I am torn, I want a box that is not too expensive but will last me for a while.

My concern with this one is the amount of space, I do not have a ton of tools at the moment but I also want something I can continue to grow into... So I am completely undecided!

I have a box from Costco. It a stainless box I got in about 2002. Its NOT the same SS box that a others here got. I have never seen another one like mine. Very heavy and very well made. Much thicker steel than other stainless boxes they have offered. It works well for me.

I have not seen the box that the OP is speaking of, but our local Costco has a very nice 72" box with wood top, 21" deep drawers and is powder coated red. Big casters on it too. $459 was the price. It would be a great value for someone. The only one I saw in the store was the display model. If I had room, I would buy it!

If Costco would just get consistent inventory store to store, they could really dominate on value boxes. The only one around here is the 56 inch steel with a wood top, $499. And they only have one left last time I was there, so it is probably gone by now. I might just grab it next time I go there if it is still there.

My Costco had the red one on display, and about 5 in backup stock. It's made by CSPS, the same company that made my 56" x22" Stainless Steel Top and Bottom, which I *love*. I am looking for the narrower 41" model that they made if anyone has one they'd sell.

I measured the Costco one and it is only 18" deep. The top is a very poor quality wood - lots of color variation and wild grain. Not saying that it won't hold up, just don't buy it with the expectation that it's a solid Maple butcher block, because it is not. It *may* be renewable bamboo, which would offset much of my negative impression.

Finally, this box is NOTHING like mine in terms of construction and feel. The drawers can't be closed by pushing anywhere but the center, as there is too much slop and they jam. I didn't have a micrometer or thickness gauge with me, but the steel in the drawer seems to be VERY flimsy.

Now, to put all this in perspective:

I stopped by Napa yesterday and looked at the set they have on sale for $999. It's made by Homak, and - in my opinion - was complete junk. I wouldn't take the set for $400! The Harbor freight $99 four-drawer cart is MUCH nicer and more solid

I then stopped in Fleet-Farm today. They had a nice blue 'Homak PRO' roller-box that had a good feel to it and appeared to be nicely made, but it was quite small and they still wanted almost $300 for it. Plus, it had the stupid 'small drawer on top to large drawer on bottom' design. No thanks!

So far my opinion is that the HF 13-drawer is by far the best value for the money at $349 - and maybe even at $399.

Of course that's just my opinion, and YMMV.
